Improving Patient Compliance With Post-EVAR Surveillance May Prevent Late Rupture.

Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) has gained increasing popularity in the treatment of infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm. Despite its favorable early outcomes, the long-term efficacy of EVAR remains a concern. Late rupture is the ultimate treatment failure and continues to complicate EVAR. Univariate and multivariate analyses have identified factors predictive of late rupture. The importance of EVAR surveillance to prevent late complications is equally widely acknowledged. This article aims to present our current understanding of the precipitating factors of late rupture after EVAR and ex

Factors influencing compliance in schizophrenia patients.

Scientifically, compliance can be expressed as the ratio between an observed treatment behavior and given treatment standards. Although the factors that influence compliance often overlap or influence each other, it is possible to differentiate between factors that are related to the patient, the patient's environment, the treating clinician, and treatment itself. Although this differentiation is in some ways artificial, it may aid the practicing clinician in assessing the various reasons why a particular patient is likely to develop or has already developed compliance problems. The fact that

Exploring the impact of safe patient handling and mobility program compliance on patient handling injury rates.

INTRODUCTION: Patient handling injuries (PHIs) from activities of turning, repositioning, and transferring patients are one of the leading causes of work-related injuries and musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) among healthcare workers. Safe Patient Handling and Mobilization (SPHM) programs aim to reduce PHIs. Differences in program design and implementation can impact program effectiveness, underscoring the importance of evaluating compliance rather than merely assessing program existence. This study examined the relationship between SPHM program compliance and direct care staff's PHI rates in Ve

Compliance with the Updated BASHH Recurrent Vulvovaginal Candidiasis Guidelines Improves Patient Outcomes.

Recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC) is a debilitating, chronic condition that affects over 138 million (6%) women of reproductive age annually. We performed a retrospective audit of RVVC referrals to our tertiary care Candida clinic to evaluate the impact of the significantly updated British Association of Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) 2019 vulvovaginal candidiasis guidelines on patient outcomes, the principles of which were implemented at our centre at the onset of the guideline revision process in 2017. A total of 78 women referred with suspected RVVC in 2017-2020 were included. Their

Epiluminescence dermatoscopy enhanced patient compliance and achieved treatment success in pseudofolliculitis barbae.

SUMMARY A patient presented with recalcitrant pseudofolliculitis barbae and hypertrophic scarring. The use of epiluminescence dermatoscopy rendered clear visualization of U-shaped ingrowing hairs corresponding to the sites of individual papules. Such real-time demonstration led to an attitude change and good compliance with medical advice against over shaving, resulting in a successful treatment outcome.

How patient compliance to suggested oral hygiene and maintenance affect periodontal therapy.

1. In medicine and dentistry, compliance tends to be poor in patients who have chronic diseases that they perceive as nonthreatening. 2. Even in the most optimistic studies, the rate of complete compliance with suggested toothbrushing is less than 50%; other studies show it much lower. In studies focusing on the use of interproximal cleaning aids, compliance is poorer still. 3. Patients in university-based programs have had a dropout rate (noncompliance) of 11% to 45%. In private periodontal practices, complete compliance was seen in one third or less of the patients. 4. The nature and the rat

Pre- and postsurgery behavioral compliance, patient health, and postbariatric surgical weight loss.

This study investigated the relationship between weight loss from gastric bypass surgery, patient characteristics, and compliance with physician instructions before and after surgery. A chart review of psychiatric and medical files was conducted for an initial cohort of 172 patients in a postsurgical management program. A total of 112 patients (primarily women (85%), white (79%), and well educated) from this cohort had presurgical data. Of these 112 subjects, 67 (60%) had postsurgical compliance information and BMI at 24 months postsurgery. The relationships between weight loss and a number of

Use of compression stockings in chronic venous disease: patient compliance and efficacy.

Compressive stockings are considered the centerpiece of treatment in chronic venous disease (CVD). It is known that stockings fail in some patients for varied reasons: they are ineffective despite wear in some, but more commonly patients are unable or unwilling to use them as prescribed. Detailed statistics regarding stocking compliance have not been available except in a few selected series focused on leg ulcers. This study focuses on use, compliance, and efficacy of compression stockings among a large cohort of patients referred to a tertiary venous practice. A total of 3,144 new CVD patient
