Group home parenting: an examination of the role.

The staff role in group homes and half-way houses is psychologically demanding. Burn out and turnover are frequent; stress reactions are possible. Mental health professionals can contribute to program effectiveness and staff well-being by helping prepare persons to cope with the role stresses. Adequate preparation requires an understanding of the role experiences and their psychological implications. An initial analysis of the role is presented. The role is viewed as ambiguous, socially complex, and engendering performance fear. It requires a redefinition of the relation between work and perso

The Correlation Between Stress of Conscience and Burnout Among Health Care Personnel at an Acute Care Hospital in Southern Sweden: A Cross-Sectional Study.

INTRODUCTION: Turnover rates among health-care personnel are rising, which could jeopardise patient safety and the quality of care. One contributing factor to the high turnover is the prevalence of mental distress. Stress of conscience among healthcare personnel has been shown to affect them negatively, and feeling that they cannot provide the care their patients need increases their stress levels. Therefore, an increased understanding of stress of conscience, its relation to burnout and its consequences for healthcare can improve hospital care for both patients and staff. AIM: This study aim

Workplace Outcomes and Experiences of Internationally Educated Nurses: A Scoping Review.

Nursing shortages in the United States (U.S.) have increased reliance on internationally educated nurses (IENs), yet their workplace outcomes remain poorly understood. This scoping review synthesized peer-reviewed empirical studies examining IEN workplace outcomes and associated individual characteristics and work conditions. Findings from 34 studies published between 2004 and 2025 showed that IENs generally reported moderate to high job satisfaction, while burnout findings suggested moderate to high occupational strain. Evidence on intention to leave was limited by inconsistent measurement an

Nevertheless, research assessing turnover intention within this group remains absent in Ethiopia. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to assess turnover intention and assoc

A horizon scanning exercise to explore retention policies for international and minoritised NHS Trust staff in England: what are the current pledges and where are the gaps?

BACKGROUND: The NHS has pledged to reduce staff attrition to address its widening workforce gap, which has been exacerbated by understaffing and the COVID-19 pandemic. Evidence suggests that staff from some minoritised groups may be at greater risk of attrition post-pandemic. However, a gap in the literature means there is no clear overview of current organisation-level NHS staff retention policies aimed at addressing this problem. We sought to address this with a horizon scanning exercise undertaken as part of a wider study aiming to support the development of policies to improve retention of
