Role of Ajwa date (Phoenix Dactyl L) derived polyphenols in male infertility.

Deep venous thrombosis is extremely rare after arthroscopic shoulder surgery. In this report, we describe one such case in a patient with a history of cardiac pacemaker placement. He presented with complaints of pain and swelling in the operated extremity several days after rotator cuff surgery and underwent ultrasound evaluation that confirmed thrombosis of the axillary vein with extension into the brachial and basilic veins, down to the level of the elbow. He was treated with Coumadin, as well as enoxaparin (Lovenox) at therapeutic dosages until INR levels were in the therapeutic range. Foll

Feeding low-quality date leaves as a substitute to conventional forages in dairy cows diet: effects on digestibility, feeding behavior, milk yield, and feed efficiency.

This study investigated the possibility of integrating date leaves (DL) as a partial or complete substitute for conventional forage fibre sources into the diet of dairy cows. Nine Holstein cows were assigned to a replicated 3×3 Latin square design, and offered 1 of the 3 diets containing no DL (DL-0), or finely chopped DL partially (50%, DL-50) or completely (100%, DL-100) substituted for lucerne hay and maize silage. The replacement of the forages by DL was established such that the forage NDF (24.5%) was similar across diet despite the decreased forage: concentrate ratio from 0.45:0.55 to 0.

Polyphenol-Rich Date Palm Fruit Seed (Phoenix Dactylifera L.) Extract Inhibits Labile Iron, Enzyme, and Cancer Cell Activities, and DNA and Protein Damage.

Date palm fruit seed (Phoenix dactylifera L.) extract (DSE), an under-utilized resource, is a rich source of polyphenols with high potency for disease prevention and antioxidative activities. For the first time, the present study demonstrated that DSE inhibits labile iron activity and DNA and BSA damage and inhibits acetylcholinesterase and tyrosinase activities. Moreover, DSE reduces the proliferation of hepatic, colorectal, and breast cancer cells dose-dependently through apoptotic mechanisms. Furthermore, DSE significantly suppressed the expression of both BCl-2 and P21 genes and increased
