The Effect of p-Toluenesulfonic Acid and Phosphoric Acid (V) Content on the Heat Resistance and Thermal Properties of Phenol Resin and Phenol-Carbon Composite.

This work presents the results of research on the influence of the amount of p-toluenesulfonic acid and phosphoric acid (V) added to the phenol-formaldehyde resin (pH 7.3-7.8) on its thermal properties and on the phenol-formaldehyde-carbon composite produced on its basis. This material undergoes pyrolysis under high temperature. The addition of a catalyst to the phenol-formaldehyde resin affects its curing rate and degree of cross-linking, but how it affects the thermal properties of the resin depending on the temperature is the subject of this work. This article presents the results of therma

Chiral Phosphoric Acid Catalyzed Asymmetric Ring Contraction of Isoxazoles under Dye-Free Photodriven Conditions.

Cooperative phosphoric acid/photocatalysis enables novel asymmetric methods, and prior systems are largely confined to radicals generated from photoredox, energy-transfer, or EDA-complex mechanisms. Reported herein is excitation of chiral phosphoric acid-isoxazole adduct to deliver enantioenriched 2H-azirines via ring contraction. This catalytic system proceeds under dye-free and operationally simple conditions with high enantioselectivity and efficiency. Mechanistic studies revealed that the isoxazole undergoes CPA-assisted photoexcitation and homolysis of the N-O bond to a triplet diradical.

Use of a natural rock material as a precursor to inhibit corrosion of Ti alloy in an aggressive phosphoric acid medium.

The mechanism of interaction between magnesite mineral and phosphoric acid (0.001-0.5 M) in addition to the determination of the protective properties for Ti alloy (working electrode) in phosphoric acid both with and without an inhibitor have been investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization measurements. Results of electrochemical tests show that the corrosion resistance of titanium alloy in phosphoric acid solution only increased and hydrogen production decreased by either decreasing acid concentration or increasing immersion time associated w

Effects of Inhibitors Generated by Dilute Phosphoric Acid Plus Steam-Exploded Poplar on Saccharomyces cerevisiae Growth.

The pretreatment of lignocellulosic biomass is important for efficient bioethanol conversion, but causes undesirable by-products that inhibit microbial growth, conversely affecting the bioconversion efficiency. In this study, the main inhibitors derived from dilute phosphoric acid plus steam-exploded poplar wood were identified as 0.22 g/L furfural, 3.63 g/L acetic acid, 0.08 g/L syringaldehyde, etc., indicating the green nature and low toxicity of the pretreatment process. The effects of the three typical inhibitors (furfural, acetic acid, and syringaldehyde) on Saccharomyces cerevisiae 1517R

Preparation, Pore Structure Development, and Properties of Bamboo Parenchyma Cell-Derived Activated Carbon by Phosphoric Acid Activation.

Bamboo parenchyma is rich in lignocellulosic macromolecules, including cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, whose structural transformation plays a critical role during chemical activation processes. In this study, bamboo parenchyma cells were employed as a lignocellulosic precursor to prepare porous activated carbon via phosphoric acid activation, followed by silver loading to introduce antibacterial functionality. The activation process induced dehydration, depolymerization, and aromatization of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, accompanied by crosslinking reactions that governed the fo

Optimizing Typha biochar with phosphoric acid modification and ferric chloride impregnation for hexavalent chromium remediation in water and soil.

Considering the persistent and covert nature of heavy metal soil contamination, the sustainable development of ecological environments and food safety is at significant risk. Our study focuses on remediating soils contaminated with chromium (Cr); we introduce an advanced remediation material, iron oxide phosphoric acid-loaded activated biochar (HFBC), synthesized through pyrolysis. This HFBC displays greater microporosity, fewer impurities, and enhanced efficiency for the remediation process. Our research utilized a comprehensive set of analytical techniques, including Scanning Electron Micros

A Mechanistic Study of Asymmetric Transfer Hydrogenation of Imines on a Chiral Phosphoric Acid Derived Indium Metal-Organic Framework.

A density functional theory (DFT) study is reported to examine the asymmetric transfer hydrogenation (ATH) of imines catalyzed by an indium metal-organic framework (In-MOF) derived from a chiral phosphoric acid (CPA). It is revealed that the imine and reducing agent (i.e., thiazoline) are simultaneously adsorbed on the CPA through H-bonding to form an intermediate, subsequently, a proton is transferred from thiazoline to imine. The transition state TS-R and TS-S are stabilized on the CPA via H-bonding. Compared to the TS-S, the TS-R has shorter H-bonding distances and longer C-H···π distances,

Asymmetric Allylation Catalyzed by Chiral Phosphoric Acids: Stereoselective Synthesis of Tertiary Alcohols and a Reagent-Based Switch in Stereopreference.

The substrate scope of the asymmetric allylation with zinc organyls catalyzed by 3,3-bis(2,4,6-triisopropylphenyl)-1,1-binaphthyl-2,2-diyl hydrogenphosphate (TRIP) has been extended to non-cyclic ester organozinc reagents and ketones. Tertiary chiral alcohols are obtained with ee's up to 94% and two stereogenic centers can be created. Compared to the previous lactone reagent the stereopreference switches almost completely, proving the fact that the nature of the organometallic compound is of immense importance for the asymmetry of the product.

ViscY NMR experiments in phosphoric acid as a viscous solvent for individualization of small molecules within mixtures by spin diffusion.

The analysis of small molecules within complex mixtures is a particularly difficult task when dealing with the study of metabolite mixtures or chemical reaction media. This issue has fostered in recent years an active search for effective and practical solutions. In this context, the ViscY NMR approach has been recently proposed. ViscY collectively designates the NMR experiments that take advantage of spin diffusion in highly viscous solvents or solvent blends for the individualization of the NMR spectra of small molecule mixture components. Two viscous media were prepared from ortho-phosphori

Association Equilibria of Organo-Phosphoric Acids with Imines from a Combined Dielectric and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy Approach.

Aggregates formed between organo-phosphoric acids and imine bases in aprotic solvents are the reactive intermediates in Brønsted acid organo-catalysis. Due to the strong hydrogen-bonding interaction of the acids in solution, multiple homo- and heteroaggregates are formed with profound effects on catalytic activity. Yet, due to the similar binding motifs-hydrogen-bonds-it is challenging to experimentally quantify the abundance of these aggregates in solution. Here we demonstrate that a combination of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and dielectric relaxation spectroscopy (DRS) allows for accura

Chiral Phosphoric Acid-Functionalized Three-Dimensional Covalent Organic Frameworks with Exceptional Chemical Stability for Asymmetric Catalysis.

The design of three-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (3D COFs) incorporating chiral phosphoric acids represents a promising strategy to enhance enantioselectivity in asymmetric catalysis while providing good framework stability, but their development remains a significant challenge. Herein, by using the multivariate approach, we report the construction of two highly crystalline chiral phosphoric acid-functionalized 3D COFs with the 4-fold interpenetrated qtz topology. Notably, the resulting frameworks exhibit exceptional chemical stability, remaining crystallinity even in 12 M HCl, satu

Minimum handling method for the analysis of phosphorous inhibitors of urolithiasis (pyrophosphate and phytic acid) in urine by SPE-ICP techniques.

Pyrophosphate (PPi) and phytic acid (IP6) are natural phosphorous compounds with growing interest in the biomedical field due to their ability as potential inhibitors of urolithiasis among others. Existing methodologies for their evaluation show inconveniences mainly associated with sample treatment, matrix interferences and lack of resolution. The objective of the present work is the validation of a new method to determine both inhibitors in urine samples selectively and its application to the diagnosis of lithiasic patients. After urine purification by an off-line anion exchange solid phase

Brushing-induced effects with and without a non-fluoride abrasive dentifrice on remineralization of enamel surfaces etched with phosphoric acid.

The remineralization of acid-etched enamel after brushing with and without a non-fluoride abrasive dentifrice was investigated using scanning electron microscopy after sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) or ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid treatment, of the specimens. Ground enamel pieces were etched with 30% phosphoric acid for 60 s and attached to resin plates. They were exposed to the oral environment of 4 subjects for 8 weeks and brushed for 1 min daily. Paste and brushing caused the acid-etched enamel to erode selectively, i.e., deep grooves were formed in the prism peripheral regions, while pro

Synthesis of Lignin-Derived Hierarchical Porous Carbon via Hydrothermal-Phosphoric Acid Synergistic Activation for Enhanced Adsorption of Tetracycline.

Tetracycline is a low-cost broad-spectrum antibiotic and widely used in medicine and aquaculture. Its residues are usually released into the environment through wastewater, which may lead to the spread of antibiotic resistance genes and pose ecological risks. To address this environmental issue, a hierarchical lignin-derived porous carbon (LPHC) was synthesized using renewable biomass lignin as the precursor through a combined phosphoric acid-activated hydrothermal pretreatment. The resulting LPHC was used to effectively remove tetracycline from aqueous solutions. Characterization results indi

Phosphoric acid-modified bentonite-chitosan composite beads: a novel and cost-effective adsorbent for multi-metal wastewater treatment.

This study introduces a novel, cost-effective adsorbent made from phosphoric acid-modified bentonite-chitosan composite beads, designed to remove Cu2⁺, Ni2⁺, and Zn2⁺ from aqueous solutions. Characterization of the composite revealed a mesoporous structure and the presence of functional groups that enhance its adsorption properties. Using response surface methodology, the adsorption capacities were determined as 362.24 mg/g for Cu2⁺, 279.51 mg/g for Ni2⁺, and 210.54 mg/g for Zn2⁺ under optimal conditions. A pH study further improved the adsorption capacities to 381.29 mg/g for Cu2⁺, 305.98 mg/

Fully upgrade bamboo biomass into three multifunctional products through biphasic γ-valerolactone and aqueous phosphoric acid pretreatment.

In this manuscript, three components of lignocellulosic biomass were obtained by deconstructing bamboo with γ-valerolactone-H2O biphasic system, and the delignification rate of 80.92 % was achieved at 120 °C for 90 min. Lignin nanospheres with diameters ranging from 75 nm to 2 um could be customized by varying the self-assembly rate. Furthermore, the lignin nanospheres-poly(vinyl alcohol) film was prepared by cross-linking lignin nanospheres and poly(vinyl alcohol), which can obtain 90 % ultraviolet absorption capacity, while the light transmittance in non-ultraviolet band was almost unchanged
