[The use of platelet rich plasma (PRP) and platelet rich fibrin (PRP) extracts in dental implantology and oral surgery].

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), made from autologous blood, is being used to deliver growth factors in high concentration to sites requiring osseous grafting. Growth factors released from the platelets include Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF), Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGF-b) and Insulin-Like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1). These factors signal the local mesenchymal and epithelial cells to migrate, divide, and increase collagen and matrix synthesis. PRP has been suggested for use to increase the rate of bone deposition and quality of bone regeneration when augmenting sites prior to or in conj

Outcome Analysis of Leukocyte-Rich Platelet-Rich Plasma, Leukocyte-Poor Platelet-Rich Plasma, and Injectable Platelet-Rich Fibrin in the Management of Chronic Plantar Fasciitis: A Prospective Comparative Study.

INTRODUCTION: Plantar heel pain is the most frequent type of plantar pain in adults. The cellular composition of the platelet concentrates used (leukocyte-rich platelet-rich plasma [LR-PRP], leukocyte-poor PRP [LP-PRP], and injectable platelet-rich fibrin [iPRF]) as well as the kinetics of their growth-factor release differ; however, there is no head-to-head evidence thus far for plantar fasciitis (PF) treatment. We aim to assess pain relief, functional results, and plantar fascia thickness in patients with chronic PF treated with LR-PRP, LP-PRP, or iPRF. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A prospective

Halting the Progression of Cicatricial Alopecia with Injectable Platelet-Rich Fibrin.

Discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) is a chronic variant of cutaneous lupus erythematosus characterized by well-defined erythematous plaques with adherent scales and follicular plugging. The affected scalp shows erythema, edema, atrophy, alopecia, and telangiectasia. Trichoscopy of DLE shows branching capillaries, white patches, keratin plugs, reduced follicular ostia, and white dots and blue-gray dots arranged in speckles pattern. Prompt diagnosis and aggressive, early multimodal therapy helps in preventing disfiguring hair loss and psychosocial sequelae. Hereby, we present a case of reversal o

Treatment of oroantral communication with Platelet-Rich Fibrin: A systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Oroantral communication (OAC) is the opening between the maxillary sinus and the oral cavity, which constitutes a gate for the mucosal infection in the maxillary sinus. On the other hand, an OAF develops when the OAC does not close spontaneously, remains manifest and is epithelialized. Several methods have been proposed to solve these situations, however, they are associated with increased postoperative morbidity and/or higher associated costs and require some experience of the surgeon to perform them. To overcome these disadvantages, the use of Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is propos

EFFECT OF PLATELET RICH FIBRIN ON WOUND HEALING TIME AFTER REVASCULARIZATION.

One of the most common diseases in vascular surgery is peripheral arterial disease, the last stage of which is critical limb ischemia. It is characterized by rest pain or tissue loss. In most cases, after revascularization, and due to gangrenous changes, it is necessary to perform amputation of a part of the lower limb. After amputation, the wound is bandaged with dressings. In conducting this pilot study, some patients were bandaged with platelet rich fibrin (PRF) in combination with dressings, while the others were treated only with dressings. PRF is a biologic material that is received from

The Effect of Platelet-Rich Fibrin on Block, Crushed and Diced Cartilage.

BACKGROUND: In nasal surgery, autologous cartilage grafts are routinely used to correct structural weakness, contour deformities, and irregularities, yet current techniques still face challenges related to long-term cartilage graft viability and resorption. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a second-generation platelet concentrate that may improve graft survival through its sustained release of bioactive molecules within a natural fibrin matrix. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the biochemical and histopathological effects of combining PRF with autologous cartilage grafts of different forms (block, crushed

The effect of platelet-rich fibrin on the biological properties of urothelial cells.

Urethral reconstruction presents a challenging issue in urology, primarily due to the limited availability of alternative materials for repair. The advancement of bioengineering technology has brought new hope to researchers, with a focus on the selection of appropriate biological scaffolds and seed cells. In order to find an ideal alternative material, we used platelet-rich fibrin as the bioscaffold and urothelial cells as the seed cells, meanwhile, we intended to investigate the effect of platelet-rich fibrin on the biological properties of urothelial cells. We transformed and characterised
