Barrier identification and strategic design for hypertriglyceridemia management in the post-acute coronary syndrome patient population at a large integrated health system.

OBJECTIVES: Patients on statin therapy with persistent hypertriglyceridemia (HTG) (TG > 150 mg/dL) post-acute coronary syndrome (ACS) are at increased risk of residual cardiovascular disease (CVD). Despite recommendations to incorporate icosapent ethyl (IPE) to reduce recurrent CV events, HTG care is not standardized. We aimed to 1) co-design a strategy package to improve CV risk management in post-ACS patients with HTG, and 2) assess TG care changes following the pilot. METHODS: A pre-implementation survey assessed clinician perspectives of standardizing HTG management. Contextual inquiries

Health Risks Among Rural Aging Populations in China: A Cross-Sectional Study of Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices in Chronic Disease Management.

BACKGROUND: Chronic diseases are a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, creating significant health risks and adding strain to healthcare systems, particularly within rapidly aging societies. Rural older adults are especially vulnerable due to limited healthcare resources, lower socioeconomic status, and weaker support networks. Guided by the Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) framework, this study aims to investigate chronic disease management behaviors among older patients in rural China and identify factors shaping their KAP dimensions to inform risk-responsive intervent

Prostate health index enhances prostate cancer management in Chinese populations: evidence from the nation's large cohort and transnational multicohort harmonization.

BACKGROUND: The escalating global burden of prostate cancer (PCa) demands accurate diagnostics to optimize management. Conventional prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing exhibits low specificity and overdiagnosis, compromising its reliability. While the Prostate Health Index (PHI) may enhance precision, large-scale Asian clinical evidence and systematic evaluations of PHI’s standalone/combined diagnostic efficacy remain limited, hindering its broader clinical adoption. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on hospitalized patients initially diagnosed with PCa or BPH at Wuhan Tongji

Piloting the Inclusion of the Key Populations Unique Identifier Code in the South African Routine Health Information Management System: Protocol for a Multiphased Study.

BACKGROUND: The global community has set an ambitious goal to end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Significant progress has been achieved in pursuing these objectives; however, concerns remain regarding the lack of disaggregated routine data for key populations (KPs) for a targeted HIV response. KPs include female sex workers, transgender populations, gay men and other men who have sex with men, people who are incarcerated, and people who use drugs. From an epidemiological perspective, KPs play a fundamental role in shaping the dynamics of HIV transmission due to specific behaviors.

Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and associated lockdown measures on the management, health, and behavior of the cystic fibrosis population in France during 2020 (MUCONFIN).

BACKGROUND: Most of the studies on cystic fibrosis (CF) focused on SARS-CoV-2 prevalence and suggested a low incidence of infection in this population. We aimed to assess the impact of the pandemic and related lockdown measures implemented in May 2020 in response to the first wave of SARS-CoV-2 infection on healthcare access, health, and behavior in CF patients. METHODS: A national questionnaire opened online from May 15th, 2020 to June 11th, 2020 was completed by 751 CF-patients, aged 14 years and over. It comprised questions about access to healthcare, anxiety and depression, smoking, alcoh

Investigating a novel population health management system to increase access to healthcare for children: a nested cross-sectional study within a cluster randomised controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Early intervention for unmet needs is essential to improve health. Clear inequalities in healthcare use and outcomes exist. The Children and Young People's Health Partnership (CYPHP) model of care uses population health management methods to (1) identify and proactively reach children with asthma, eczema and constipation (tracer conditions); (2) engage these families, with CYPHP, by sending invitations to complete an online biopsychosocial Healthcheck Questionnaire; and (3) offer early intervention care to those children found to have unmet health needs. We aimed to understand this

The relationship between management practices and health facility performance: Evidence from low-resource, community-based facilities providing HIV services to key populations.

Management practices are deemed especially critical to performance in resource-constrained settings. However, empirical evidence is limited for community-based organizations (CBOs) that provide health services. We studied the association between management domains and performance among organizations delivering HIV services to key populations. We assessed organizational performance using cost efficiency, service volume, and outreach service quality. We collected data on 67 management practices from 45 CBOs in Kenya and Malawi and classified them into six domains-community engagement, financial

Exploring barriers and facilitators to capturing cancer stage at diagnosis in a population-based cancer registry: a cross-sectional survey of health information managers/clinical coders and multidisciplinary team members.

BACKGROUND: Cancer stage is important to capture within population-based cancer registries (PBCRs) to facilitate recruitment to clinical trials, evaluate prevention programs, assess treatment impact, and forecast cancer service needs. However, capture of cancer stage at diagnosis in many PBCRs is low, stemming from missing data in cancer registrations from health services. This study aims to identify the barriers and facilitators faced by Health Information Managers (HIM)/Clinical Coders (CC) and key multidisciplinary team meeting (MDM) personnel when capturing cancer stage at diagnosis.
