A series of 849 male pinworms collected from a 64-yr-old Japanese male was examined. They were classified by the spicule morphology into 87 Enterobius vermicularis (Linnaeus, 1758), 754 Enterobius gregorii Hugot, 1983, and 6 immature adults, whereas 2 worms lacked spicules. CONTEXT: This paper reports a detailed epidemiological investigation of a large Haff disease outbreak in Nanjing, China, including laboratory analysis of water, river sediment, and fish.
METHODS: Structured questionnaires were administered to all case-patients. An unmatched case-control study was conducted to identify the factors affecting the incidence of Haff disease. Thirteen samples of crayfish, together with four samples of water and four samples of sediment were collected and sent for laboratory analysis.

In 2005 we reported in this journal the treatment of cystic nephroma, a rare but presumed benign renal tumor, with percutaneous resection. Initial follow-up confirmed removal of the intra-pelvic portion of the cystic nephroma and persistence of the unresected intra-parenchymal portion. Surveillance with computed tomography revealed gradual regrowth of the mass, ultimately resulting in a size greater than that at the time of initial resection. Laparoscopic radical nephrectomy without adrenalectomy revealed benign cystic nephroma.

Four patients postcoronary bypass surgery, utilizing the left internal thoracic artery as a jump graft, were found to have atresia of either the proximal segment (2 patients) or the distal interposition segment (2 patients) of this graft. In all 4 cases the atretic portion of the graft was the segment that had been anastomosed to a noncritically obstructed vessel. The segment anastomosed to the severely narrowed portion of the vessel functioned normally and approximated the target vessel size.

OBJECTIVE: To demonstrate the usefulness of a small size nasogastric tube as a combined nephrostomy tube and stent in Anderson-Hyne Pyeloplasty.
METHOD: Size 6 FG nasogastric tube with two holes made at the midportion, was used in each of 10 consecutive patients who had Anderson-Hypes dismembered pyeloplasty. The distal portion served as stent while the middle perforated portion was situated in the renal pelvis. Through a separate stab wound at the lateral abdominal wall the rest of the tube was brought out. The single tube then served as both a nephrostomy and a splint to the repair.

We present a 12-year-old girl with a teratoma with malignant transformation (TMT) of the mediastinum. Computed tomography showed a cystic mass (5.0 cm × 4.0 cm) with a thick solid portion, in the anterior mediastinum. Six months later, the solid portion of the mass had enlarged, and surgical resection was performed. The resected tumor was 7.0 × 5.0 × 4.0 cm in size. The cystic portion was a mature teratoma, and the solid portion predominantly comprised a viable embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma.
