PURPOSE: Optoelectronic advances have boosted interest in noninvasive rosacea treatments. Among them, pulsed dye laser (PDL), intense pulsed light (IPL), and radiofrequency (RF) therapy have been used to treat erythematotelangiectatic rosacea (ETR), and some therapeutic effects have been reported, but comparative studies are lacking. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of PDL, IPL, and RF therapy for the treatment of ETR.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: A retrospective evaluation was conducted of patients with ETR who completed phototherapy between June 2019 and June 2024. The treatment

In our study, we aim to compare the effectiveness of unilateral and bilateral pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) treatment applied to the greater occipital nerve. Patients aged 18 and over diagnosed with chronic migraine according to the International Classification of Headache Disorders were studied. The patients received greater occipital nerve (GON) block and additional GON pulsed radiofrequency treatment under ultrasound guidance, using bilateral or unilateral local anesthetics. In patients with consistently bilateral headaches (n:22), the intervention was performed bilaterally, while in asymmetr

UNLABELLED: Pudendal neuralgia (PN) is a result of pudendal nerve entrapment or injury, also called "Alcock syndrome." Pain that develops is often chronic, and at times debilitating. If conservative measures fail, invasive treatment modalities can be considered. The goal of this case report is to add to a small body of literature that a pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) ablation can be effectively used to treat PN and to show that high resolution MR neurography imaging can be used to detect pudendal neuropathy.
CASE PRESENTATION: We present a case of a 51-year-old woman with 5 years of worsening ri

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this review was to evaluate the efficacy of pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) treatment of pain associated with different spinal conditions. The mechanisms of action and biological effects are shortly discussed to provide the scientific basis for this radiofrequency modality.
METHODS: We systematically searched for clinical studies on spinal clinical conditions using PRF. We searched the MEDLINE (PubMed) database. We classified the information in one table focusing on randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and other types of studies. Date of last electronic search was Octob

BACKGROUND: Low back disorder is the most common problem in the entire spinal axis. About two-thirds of adults suffer from low back pain (LBP) at some time. Pain generators in the lumbar spine include the annulus of the disc, the posterior longitudinal ligament, a portion of the dural membrane, the facet joints, the spinal nerve roots and ganglia, and the associated paravertebral muscle fascia. There is no doubt that the facet joint is a potential source of chronic LBP. Facet joints are true synovial joints that have a joint space, hyaline cartilage surfaces, a synovial membrane, and a fibrous

Peripheral nerve injury in athletes is rare but deleterious to their performance, entrapment being one of the most frequent causes. Isolated injury to the superficial peroneal nerve (SPN) is rare and often underdiagnosed. The authors reported a clinical case of a 34-year-old handball athlete who presented with neuropathic pain in the inferolateral third of the leg and dorsum of the foot, with three months of evolution, after an ankle sprain, refractory to conservative treatment. After clinical assessment and ultrasound investigation, it was considered that the pain source was likely to be an S

PurposeChronic hip pain is a common symptom experienced by many people. Often, surgery is not an option for patients with multiple comorbidities, and conventional drugs either have many side effects or are ineffective. Pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) is a new method in the treatment of pain. We attempt to compare the efficacy of PRF relative to conservative management for chronic hip pain.Patients and methodsBetween August 2011 and July 2013, 29 patients with chronic hip pain were divided into two groups (PRF and conservative treatment) according to consent or refusal to undergo PRF procedure. Fif

OBJECTIVES: Many patients develop dental treatment-related symptomatic trigeminal neuralgia. However, the effectiveness of pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) treatment and conventional radiofrequency thermocoagulation (RFTC) for treatment of this disorder has not been determined. This retrospective study was conducted to compare the effectiveness and complications of PRF and RFTC in these patients.
METHODS: Fifty-four patients who experienced the onset of symptomatic trigeminal neuralgia after a dental treatment were managed by PRF or RFTC. Data were collected by reviewing their medical records and

Post-traumatic trigeminal neuropathic pain is one of the rare complications that could follow orofacial procedures such as dental extraction. The incidence of this type of pain following craniofacial trauma ranges between 3% and 13% depending on the type of surgery. The inferior alveolar and lingual nerves are commonly affected following molar tooth extraction. Pain usually differs from one patient to another concerning intensity and distribution. Pulsed radiofrequency treatment is one of the most widely used techniques in chronic pain management. It focuses on generating heat using radiofrequ
