A 73-year-old man with history significant for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation on apixaban underwent percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) of the left anterior descending artery via transradial access. The patient was discharged on clopidogrel, atorvastatin, carvedilol, isosorbide mononitrate, losartan, and apixaban.

Radial artery pseudoaneurysm is a rarelimb-threatening complication that occurs from vascular procedures and direct trauma. We present a rare case of a 74-year-old female who presented to the emergency department with a squirrel bite to her right wrist. Although initially benign-appearing, computed tomography angiography of the right upper extremity showed a pseudoaneurysm at the distal radial artery. The patient was successfully treated with careful compression and rapid resolution was confirmed with an arterial right upper extremity ultrasound that visualized a formed thrombus. Emergency pro

Anatomical vascular variations are rare causes of carpal tunnel syndrome. An aberrant medial artery is the most common vascular variation, while an aberrant radial artery causing carpal tunnel syndrome is even more rare, with an incidence ranging less than 3%. This article reports a patient with compression of the median nerve at the carpal tunnel by an aberrant superficial branch of the radial artery. An 80- year- old man presented with a 5-year history of right hand carpal tunnel syndrome; Tinel sign, Phalen test and neurophysiological studies were positive. Open carpal tunnel release showed

BACKGROUND: We present a patient who underwent left superior temporal artery (STA)-to-right middle cerebral artery (MCA) bypass using a radial artery (RA) graft with resection of a giant right cervical common carotid artery (CCA) pseudoaneurysm after carotid artery stenting (CAS) and discuss the treatment strategy and surgical procedure in detail.
CASE DESCRIPTION: An 86-year-old male presented with sudden onset of altered consciousness and complete left hemiparesis. Magnetic resonance angiography and catheter angiography of the brain revealed occlusion of the right cervical ICA. Endovascular

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Transradial access for neurointerventional procedures has been proved a safer and more comfortable alternative to femoral artery access. We present our experience with transradial (distal radial/anatomic snuffbox and radial artery) access for treatment of intracranial aneurysms using all 3 FDA-approved flow diverters.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This was a high-volume, dual-center, retrospective analysis of each institution's data base between June 2018 and June 2020 and a collection of all patients treated with flow diversion via transradial access. Patient demographic inf

We report a new technique of arterial access through the ipsilateral interosseous artery in a case of late radial artery occlusion (RAO). RAO, although not frequent, is a limiting iatrogenic complication after transradial intervention (TRI) and precludes repeat use of the same radial artery for future procedures. Our technique involves obtaining access to the ipsilateral radial artery (RA) in the distal postocclusion segment and use of collateral channel between this segment and the interosseous artery (IOA) for advancing a guidewire and sheath in the IOA lumen and in brachial artery thereafte

BACKGROUND: The incidence of postoperative complications resulting from radial artery occlusion (RAO) via transradial access (TRA) is relatively high in patients who require percutaneous coronary procedure, especially when complex coronary intervention requires a larger-bore sheath (≥ 7-F). In theory, there should be more RAO following the insertion of a larger-bore sheath via the thinner distal radial artery (dRA) if this artery is chosen as the access for the intervention. Few studies have used 7-F sheaths via distal TRA (dTRA).
AIMS: This study aimed to evaluate the association between the

BACKGROUND: The distal radial artery (dRA) approach at anatomical snuff box has gained attention of the interventional cardiologist in last few years. The procedural success rate by this novel approach depends on size of the radial artery and therefore the study was planned to study the size of distal radial artery.
METHODS: Total of 1004 patients of >18 years of age undergoing coronary catheterization were included in the study. The vessel diameter was measured from media to media in the anatomical snuff box a day prior to coronary catheterization.
RESULTS: The mean diameter of right radial

BACKGROUND: Subclavian artery stenosis refers to the stenosis in the lumen caused by the presence of plaque or thrombus in the subclavian artery. It is a common problem in endovascular interventions. In fact, conventional subclavian artery stenting via the femoral artery approach is effective and safe. Nevertheless, because femoral artery puncture is not easy to stop bleeding, it requires longer femoral artery compression or more expensive hemostatic materials, such as staplers. Patients need to be catheterized and bedridden for a longer time, which may lead to many complications, such as pseu

Brachial artery injury is the most common vascular disruption in upper extremity penetrating trauma, usually treated by primary repair or saphenous vein interposition graft. We report the case of a young male who presented after assault with stab wound to the right antecubital fossa, an asymmetric vascular exam, and unknown depth contaminated wound that warranted operative exploration. We performed open exploration through a triangular flap extension of his oblique linear laceration for both exposure and flexor surface scar contracture prophylaxis. Exploration revealed brachial artery lacerati

AIM: The radial artery has become the artery of choice after the internal thoracic artery for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). This study compares wound healing and arm complications after endoscopic versus open radial artery harvesting for CABG.
METHODS: From January 2002 to July 2004, 509 patients underwent CABG in which a radial artery conduit was used. Thirty-nine had endoscopic and 470 had conventional open radial artery harvesting. A propensity score was used to obtain 1:3 matching of all endoscopic to 117 open-harvesting patients. Postoperative wound healing using the Hollander

BACKGROUND: Radial artery is widely accepted for surgical myocardial revascularization due to reported better long-term patency than venous grafts. Endoscopic radial artery harvesting (ERAH) represents a modern method associated with reduction of post-harvesting complications in comparison with the traditional radial artery harvesting.
METHODS: From October 2005 to March 2006, ERAH was performed in a group of 10 patients employing the Vasoview 6 system (Guidant, Europe S.A., Belgium). Patients were evaluated on 7th postoperative day for wound healing disturbances and neurological complication

Despite wide spread use of the radial artery (RA) graft for coronary artery bypass grafting, the change of hand circulation after RA harvest has not been fully clarified. Severe hand ischemia such as resting pain or gangrene is a rare complication and has been reported in 4 patients. These cases resulted from occlusive artery disease in forearm, which should be carefully explored before RA harvest. Incidence of mild hand ischemia such as hand claudication or fatigue is unknown, but our study suggested that around 10% of the patients developed mild hand ischemia after RA harvest. The blood flow

BACKGROUND: Transradial access is widely used for coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI); however, complications such as radial artery spasm, perforation, and occlusion remain clinically relevant. Jahanzeb's Coronary Catheter Rolling Technique (JCRT) is a novel method designed to improve catheter navigation and reduce vascular trauma.
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the feasibility, safety and clinical outcomes of JCRT compared with the conventional radial catheterization technique.
METHODS: In this prospective, non-randomized comparative study 4,697 patients undergoing ele

OBJECTIVE: This study was undertaken to test for structural differences between myometrial radial arteries isolated from women having normal pregnancies and pregnancies complicated by preeclampsia and intrauterine growth restriction.
STUDY DESIGN: Pressure myography was used to study myometrial radial arteries obtained at cesarean section. With the use of a transilluminating system, lumen diameter, wall thickness, wall/lumen ratio, distensibility and stress-strain relationship were studied through a range of pressures. Arteries were then fixed in glutaraldehyde, embedded in resin, cross-secti
