Adherence to Hidradenitis Suppurativa Treatment.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic, debilitating skin condition that requires multimodal treatment. Adherence remains a significant challenge for many patients due to complex nature of treatment, thus presenting a barrier to management success. This review summarizes the current literature on the factors associated with adherence to medications, and lifestyle behaviors in patients with HS and proposes strategies to improve adherence. In February 2023, a systematic literature search was conducted by two independent authors on PubMed and EMBASE for articles from 2000 to 2023 on hidradeni

Does the use of telephone reminders to increase survey response rates affect outcome estimates? An ancillary analysis of a prospective cohort study of patients with low back pain.

BACKGROUND: Research is often undertaken using patient-reported outcomes from questionnaires. Achieving a high response rate demands expensive and time-consuming methods like telephone reminders. However, it is unknown whether telephone reminders change outcome estimates or only affect the response rate in research of populations with low back pain (LBP). The aim is to compare baseline characteristics and the change in outcome between patients responding before and after receiving a telephone reminder. METHODS: This is an ancillary analysis of data from a prospective cohort study employing qu

A national cluster-randomised controlled trial to examine the effect of enhanced reminders on the socioeconomic gradient in uptake in bowel cancer screening.

BACKGROUND: The NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme in England offers biennial guaiac faecal occult blood testing (gFOBt). There is a socioeconomic gradient in participation and socioeconomically disadvantaged groups have worse colorectal cancer survival than more advantaged groups. We compared the effectiveness and cost of an enhanced reminder letter with the usual reminder letter on overall uptake of gFOBt and the socioeconomic gradient in uptake. METHODS: We enhanced the usual reminder by including a heading 'A reminder to you' and a short paragraph restating the offer of screening in sim

The effectiveness of telephone reminders and home visits to improve measles, mumps and rubella immunization coverage rates in children.

INTRODUCTION: In the Saskatoon Health Region (Saskatchewan), only 67.4% of children overall are fully immunized for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) at 24 months of age, with only 43.7% of low-income children fully immunized. METHODS: Parents of children who were behind in MMR immunizations were contacted to determine knowledge about, beliefs toward and barriers to immunization. The effectiveness of a telephone reminder system in improving immunization rates in a health region compared with a control health region was determined. Finally, the effectiveness of telephone reminders versus teleph

Driver behavior around driver readiness alerts versus attention reminders while using Tesla Autopilot.

INTRODUCTION: Tesla's Autopilot attention reminders typically follow escalation sequences that start with visual-only alerts, but some alerts bypass this escalation pattern and begin with the visual-audible alert phase. This study's aim was to understand what triggered those alerts and how drivers behave around them over time. METHOD: We analyzed 283 alerts that bypassed the visual-only phase from 13 drivers who used a 2020 Tesla Model 3 as their personal vehicle for 4 weeks. We identified roadway features and driver behaviors that were present around these alerts. RESULTS: Alerts most often

Smartwatch reminders can support time-based prospective memory in patients with Korsakoff's syndrome.

Prospective memory (PM) is the ability to remember to perform an intended task. PM is often impaired in individuals with Korsakoff's syndrome (KS), a neuropsychiatric disorder caused by severe thiamine deficiency resulting from malnutrition, typically as a consequence of structural alcohol abuse. This study aimed to investigate whether smartwatch reminders were as effective as verbal in-person reminders in prompting individuals to perform time-based PM tasks. Twelve individuals with KS, residing in a long-term care facility, were asked to complete PM tasks that were already part of their daily

Wearable devices for improving medication adherence in older adults with chronic conditions: A systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Medication adherence remains a major public health challenge, especially among older adults managing multiple chronic conditions and complex therapeutic regimens. Poor adherence is linked to increased mortality, complications, hospital readmissions, higher healthcare costs, and reduced quality of life. Wearable devices (WDs), integrated into everyday accessories and equipped with sensors and reminder systems, may offer a practical strategy to support continuous monitoring and improve adherence. Given the still-limited evidence in this area, this review evaluates the impact of weara

Untimely follow-up after cervical cancer screening: A qualitative study among healthcare providers in Flanders (Belgium).

BACKGROUND: Cervical cancer remains a global health burden despite being largely preventable through vaccination, screening, and timely treatment. Delays in follow-up after abnormal screening undermine the effectiveness of organized cervical cancer screening programmes. In Flanders (Belgium), organized screening and reminder systems exist, yet 17.7% of women do not receive adequate follow-up after an abnormal Pap smear, highlighting the need to understand multilevel factors influencing timely follow-up. METHODS: Between September and November 2025, 14 semi-structured group interviews were con
