OBJECTIVE: To observe the expression of HELQ and RAD51C in normal endometrial and endometrial stromal sarcoma (ESS) and analyze their correlation with the clinical features of the patients.

Nonpuerperal inversion of the uterus is rare; the 69th such case in the English literature is reported. Although caused most frequently by submucous leiomyoma, nonpuerperal uterine inversion may be caused by carcinoma or, as in this report, a sarcoma of the uterine fundus. For optimal therapy and to reduce surgical complications, the correct preoperative diagnosis of uterine inversion and any concomitant disease is mandatory.

Leiomyoma is the most common benign uterine tumor, whereas endometrial stromal tumors are rare uterine tumors with limited clinical experience. The distinction between highly cellular leiomyoma and endometrial stromal sarcoma can pose a diagnostic challenge to the pathologists as both these tumors have considerable overlapping features on histology.

Endometrial stromal sarcomas (ESS) are rare tumors of the uterus. The metastasis of ESS to the cardiac structures is extremely infrequent. Several cases of right-sided heart metastasis have been previously reported. To our knowledge, only one similar case is available in the published studies that presented with recurrent embolic strokes due to left atrial metastasis of ESS.
