We report an unusual case of a pelvic mass arising from the seminal vesicle. A 45-year-old man presented with difficulty voiding and difficult bowel movements. Computed tomography demonstrated a large 14 x 10 x 15-cm cystic pelvic mass displacing the bladder anteriorly and the rectum posteriorly. Magnetic resonance imaging confirmed that this lesion appeared to be originating from the right seminal vesicle. On surgical exploration of the abdomen, a large cystic lesion in the posterior retroperitoneum was identified and removed. The patient improved, with restoration of normal bowel function.

A 69-year-old man with primary squamous cell carcinoma of the seminal vesicle was successfully treated. The patient presented with complaints of gross hematuria and difficulty in urination. Transrectal ultrasonography revealed a cystic mass behind the bladder, and solid tumorous lesions were visualized in the cyst wall by magnetic resonance imaging. We report on the clinical and histological findings of a primary extragonadal germ cell tumor that was proved to be a seminoma of the seminal vesicle. The patient had left ureteral obstruction at diagnosis. The testes were normal on physical and ultrasound examination, and the retroperitoneum was free of tumor. There was no recurrence 8 months postoperatively.

A previously unreported complication of low anterior resection of the rectum, seminal vesicle-rectal fistula, was encountered one month after surgery in an elderly patient with adenocarcinoma of the midrectum. A 15 min i.v. infusion supplying either 1 or 2 g of sodium cephapirin was administered preoperatively to patients about to undergo either retropubic or transvesical prostatectomy. A formerly healthy 41-year-old male with monosymptomatic swelling of his left testicle was diagnosed with testicular cancer (seminoma). During staging of the cancer a computed tomography showed left renal agenesis and an 8 x 6 cm retrovesical space-occupying lesion in the left side of the pelvis. The lesion was interpreted as a group of enlarged lymph nodes, but PET/CT and MRI later demonstrated that it was a left seminal vesicle cyst. An association between congenital seminal vesicle cysts and ipsilateral renal agenesis is rare and can be explained by their common embryologic origin.

Renal agenesis is a rare condition of unknown etiology frequently seen together with ipsilateral seminal vesicle and vas deferens anomalies because of common embryologic development. However, no cases of contralateral seminal vesicle hypoplasia accompanying renal agenesis have previously been reported. We describe a case of contralateral seminal vesicle hypoplasia accompanying renal agenesis incidentally detected in a 27-year-old presenting to the urology clinic with pelvic pain.

An adenocarcinoma in the seminal vesicles of a 15-month-old male Wistar rat from a 30-month inhalation study is described. OBJECTIVES: To report one case of seminal vesicle cyst with renal agenesis. To describe its clinical, radiological and therapeutic characteristics.
METHODS/RESULTS: 42-year-old male presenting with irritative voiding symptoms. Digital rectal examination revealed a soft irregular mass over the prostate. Diagnostic imaging tests showed an enlargement of the left seminal vesicle and ipsilateral renal agenesis. Surgery was carried out with excision of the seminal vesicle cyst by an extravesical and extraperitoneal approach. Two years later the patient remains asymptomatic.

A series of benign prostatic hypertrophy patients were routinely evaluated, including transrectal echography, before and at regular intervals following surgery.
