In order to be able to make full use of domain knowledge to improve the performance of skill word extraction, this paper proposes a skill word extraction method based on a combination of deep learning and corpus features. Skill word extraction is transformed into a sequence annotation problem, and based on the basic model of sequence annotation, Bi-LSTM-CRF, corpus features are added to the input layer, and the output of the input layer is connected with the Bi-LSTM output as the input of the CRF layer. The experimental results show timely updating of the question bank, paying attention to the

The current longitudinal study examined the intergenerational transmission of ethnic-racial identity/identification and cultural orientation among Mexican-origin adolescent young mothers and their children (N = 161 dyads). Findings indicated that mothers' ethnic-racial identity and their cultural involvement were significantly associated with children's ethnic-racial identification via mothers' cultural socialization; however, associations varied significantly by children's gender and skin tone. For example, mothers' ethnic-racial centrality was positively associated with cultural socializatio

Organizations play a pivotal role in fostering employee safety behavior. Building on the social identity approach, we argue that organizational identification facilitates the internalization of organizational norms and values. Thus, organizational identification should strengthen the influence of organizational climate on employee behavior. More specifically, we predicted that the relationship between perceived COVID-19 safety climate and COVID-19 safety behavior (both at work and outside of work) would be stronger the more employees identify with their organization. To test this hypothesis, w

BACKGROUND: Descendants of mentally ill parents (DMIP) make up about 22% of the population and are 2-13 times more likely to experience mental problems themselves. Preventive health interventions are needed, which should foster protective factors. Unfortunately, little is known about which variables can serve as protective factors for this at-risk group.
METHODS: In this quasi-experimental cross-sectional study, we compared DMIP (n = 332) with a control group (n = 90) with mentally healthy parents. We predicted that (1) DMIP report a lower well-being than the control group and that DMIP who e

Despite the global presence of social media platforms, the reasons why people like and share content are still poorly understood. We investigate how group identity mentions and expressions of ingroup solidarity and outgroup hostility in posts correlate with engagement on Ukrainian social media (i.e., shares, likes, and other reactions) before and after the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. We use a dataset of 1.6 million posts from Ukrainian news source pages on Facebook and Twitter (currently X) and a geolocated sample of 149 thousand Ukrainian tweets. Before the 2022 Russian invasion, we obs

In this chapter, we examine the self and identity by considering the different conditions under which these are affected by the groups to which people belong. From a social identity perspective we argue that group commitment, on the one hand, and features of the social context, on the other hand, are crucial determinants of central identity concerns. We develop a taxonomy of situations to reflect the different concerns and motives that come into play as a result of threats to personal and group identity and degree of commitment to the group. We specify for each cell in this taxonomy how these

Social justice ideologies, with its emphasis on group or social identity, is permeating psychology. From its major role in the recently proposed code of ethics to its impact on therapy itself, the infusion of social justice ideologies into psychology threatens to change its very nature. This movement has a laudable goal: to combat the injustices that can impact individuals' mental health. But studies show that it also has negative impacts. This article lays out aspects of psychological research that are often ignored by psychologists, showing how the politicization of social identity and the e

Social identity biases, particularly the tendency to favor one's own group (ingroup solidarity) and derogate other groups (outgroup hostility), are deeply rooted in human psychology and social behavior. However, it is unknown if such biases are also present in artificial intelligence systems. Here we show that large language models (LLMs) exhibit patterns of social identity bias, similarly to humans. By administering sentence completion prompts to 77 different LLMs (for instance, 'We are…'), we demonstrate that nearly all base models and some instruction-tuned and preference-tuned models displ

Moral psychology uses tightly controlled scenarios in which the identities of the characters are either unspecified or vague. Studies with raceless, genderless strangers help to highlight the important structural elements of moral acts (e.g., intention, causation, harm) but may not generalize to real-world judgments. As researchers have long shown, social judgments hinge on the identities (e.g., race, gender, age, religion, group affiliation) of both target and perceiver. Asking whether people generally condemn "shooting someone" is very different from asking whether liberals as opposed to con

We present a new multi-analytical approach to the characterization of black pigments in Spanish Levantine rock art. This new protocol seeks to identify the raw materials that were used, as well as reconstruct the different technical gestures and decision-making processes involved in the obtaining of these black pigments. For the first of these goals, the pictorial matter of the black figurative motifs documented at the Les Dogues rock art shelter (Ares del Maestre, Castellón, Spain) was characterized through the combination of physicochemical and archeobotanical analyses. During the first stag

In their understanding of extremism, social psychologists discuss the processes of social identity formation, self-categorization and categorization of the other. In this paper, we posit that these processes are related to basic, primitive unconscious mechanisms which have been overlooked in the literature on extremism. A bi-disciplinary model for the understanding of the extremist mindset is crafted, integrating the similarities between social psychology constructs and psychoanalytical themes. The proposed model rests on the assumption that there is no competition between the two paradigms.

THE WHAT: Professional Identity Formation (PIF) in medicine is the gradual transformation that occurs in the process of becoming a doctor, as professional values, beliefs, behaviors, relationships, roles, and responsibilities become integrated into an aggregate of existing identities. 1 Conceptually, this process may be considered as a trajectory of self-perceived identities that transpires between an individual's existing identity and an evolving, aspirational identity toward which the individual may strive. 2 This process is individualized, yet contextual, psychosocially grounded, and subjec

Community-based peer support groups for stroke survivors are common in the United Kingdom and aim to support rehabilitation. This study of 260 stroke survivors across 118 groups nationally used an online survey format, completed on average 3 months into the pandemic. Analysis of both quantitative and open-ended responses provided insights into how stroke group members maintained contact during the COVID-19 pandemic and how the group processes of shared social identity and perceived social support related to psychosocial outcomes (self-esteem, well-being and loneliness). Group members adapted t

The spread of misinformation threatens democratic societies, hampering informed decision-making. Partisan identity biases perceptions of reality, promoting false beliefs. The Identity-based Model of Political Belief explains how social identity shapes information processing and contributes to misinformation. According to this model, social identity goals can override accuracy goals, leading to belief alignment with party members rather than facts. We propose an extended version of this model that incorporates the role of informational context in misinformation belief and sharing. Partisanship

Few studies have examined whether specific aspects of group identification predict problematic and non-problematic addictive behaviours and none have focused on gambling. Applying Leach et al.'s (2008) hierarchical model of in-group identification, we tested the associations between components of self-investment (satisfaction, solidarity, and centrality) and components of self-definition (individual self-stereotyping, in-group homogeneity) on distinguishing between problem and non-problem gambling (n = 10,157) and on the severity of problematic gambling behaviour (n = 2,568). Results showed th

The US psychologist Gail Hornstein's monograph, Agnes's Jacket: A Psychologist's Search for the Meanings of Madness (2009), is an important intervention in the identity politics of the mad movement. Hornstein offers a resignified vision of mad identity that embroiders the central trope of an "anti-colonial" struggle to reclaim the experiential world "colonized" by psychiatry. A series of literal and figurative appeals makes recourse to the inner world and (corresponding) cultural world of the mad as well as to the ethno-symbolic cultural materials of dormant nationhood. This rhetoric is augmen

OBJECTIVE: Medical education should support the development of a professional identity. However, it is still unclear what exactly is meant by professional identity formation (PIF), how it proceeds, and how it can be specifically supported. Against this background, this workshop report describes an attempt by a group of experts to identify and evaluate learning objectives in NKLM 2.0 that could be relevant to PIF. The aims of this project were, on the one hand, to determine the extent to which PIF has been incorporated into the NKLM and, on the other hand, to analyze how PIF can be understood o

Despite the relevance of social exclusion and economic inequality for homelessness, empirical studies investigating how these issues relate to homeless people's psychological well-being are scarce. We aimed to fill this gap by conducting two quasi-experimental studies on homeless and non-homeless groups. The first study (N = 200) showed that homeless (vs. non-homeless) people presented higher levels of resignation, characterized by depression, alienation, helplessness, and unworthiness (Williams, 2009). The second study (N = 183) replicated the findings from Study 1 and showed that perceived e

Public trust in security services is a critical social-psychological phenomenon, yet existing theoretical accounts remain fragmented and insufficiently attentive to the structural power asymmetries characterising security-public relations. This article argues that the dominant paradigm, procedural justice theory, requires fundamental revision within intergroup and institutional power dynamics. Drawing upon procedural justice theory (Why people obey the law, 1990, Yale University Press; Why people obey the law, 2nd ed., 2006, Princeton University Press), social identity and self-categorisation
