Co-designing a framework for evaluation of assistive technology: learning from people with acquired brain injury and the assistive technology advisors they engage.

BACKGROUND: Assistive technology can change the way executive function support is provided to people with acquired brain injury (ABI). However, tools to guide consideration and selection of technology for cognitive support are lacking. The aim of this study was to co-design and co-produce a tool that can be used by assistive technology advisors collaborating with people with ABI to evaluate assistive products used for cognitive support. METHODS: McKercher's six-phase co-design process was used. A small circle co-design group was purposively constructed including people with ABI lived experien

Evaluating stakeholder coordination and partnerships for NTD elimination in Taraba state, Nigeria: a multi-level analysis.

INTRODUCTION: Nigeria has a significant burden of NTDs with more than 120 million people at risk of the dominant NTDs namely Lymphatic Filariasis, Onchocerciasis, and Schistosomiasis. Control efforts have involved the four levels of governance with programs focused on vector control, preventive chemotherapy, water, sanitation and health education. However, the coordination across these levels and with multiple stakeholders remains unclear especially in states like Taraba that have received significant funding from local non-governmental organisations. METHODS: This study evaluated NTD control

Developing a Primary Care-Focused Intervention to Engage Patients With Osteoarthritis in Physical Activity: A Stakeholder Engagement Qualitative Study.

Physical activity (PA) is important for managing osteoarthritis (OA), but many patients are inactive. Research is needed on strategies to leverage clinical encounters to engage patients in PA. Guided by the socioecological model of health behavior, this study aimed to engage stakeholders in the process of refining an Osteoarthritis Physical Activity Care Pathway (OA-PCP). Six focus groups and seven individual interviews were conducted with key stakeholders. Focus groups were specific to stakeholder roles and included patients with OA, support partners, and clinic personnel (n = 6 focus groups)

Public involvement in an aggregate and individual participant data meta-analysis of mindfulness-based programmes for mental health promotion.

BACKGROUND: Involving the public in evidence synthesis research is challenging due to the highly analytic nature of the projects, so it is important that involvement processes are documented, reflected upon, and shared to devise best practices. There is a literature gap on the involvement of the public in individual participant data meta-analyses, particularly in public health projects. We aimed to document and reflect on our collective experiences of involving and being involved as public stakeholders at all stages of a systematic review and individual participant data meta-analysis project.

A protocol for stakeholder engagement in head and neck cancer pragmatic trials.

Meaningful engagement with stakeholders in research demands intentional approaches. This paper describes the development of a framework to guide stakeholder engagement as research partners in a pragmatic trial proposed to evaluate behavioral interventions for dysphagia in head and neck cancer patients. We highlight the core principles of stakeholder engagement including representation of all perspectives, meaningful participation, respectful partnership with stakeholders, and accountability to stakeholders; and describe how these principles were operationalized to engage relevant stakeholders

Trans*Forming Access and Care in Rural Areas: A Community-Engaged Approach.

Research indicates that rural transgender and gender diverse (TGD) populations have a greater need for health services when compared with their urban counterparts, face unique barriers to accessing services, and have health disparities that are less researched than urban TGD populations. Therefore, the primary aim of this mixed-methods study (n = 24) was to increase research on the health care needs of TGD people in a rural Appalachian American context. This study was guided by a community-engaged model utilizing a community advisory board of TGD people and supportive parents of TGD children.

Practical Considerations in Using Online Modified-Delphi Approaches to Engage Patients and Other Stakeholders in Clinical Practice Guideline Development.

Patients and caregivers are increasingly recognized as key stakeholders in developing clinical practice guidelines (CPGs). Online engagement approaches offer the promise of a rigorous, scalable, and convenient engagement method. This paper illustrates how an online modified-Delphi approach could be used to engage patients, caregivers, and other stakeholder in CPG development. It provides practical guidance for conducting online modified-Delphi panels that covers (1) joint development of the engagement approach with relevant stakeholders, (2) adaptation of methods used by experts in guideline d

Nothing about us without us: involving patient collaborators for machine learning applications in rheumatology.

Novel machine learning methods open the door to advances in rheumatology through application to complex, high-dimensional data, otherwise difficult to analyse. Results from such efforts could provide better classification of disease, decision support for therapy selection, and automated interpretation of clinical images. Nevertheless, such data-driven approaches could potentially model noise, or miss true clinical phenomena. One proposed solution to ensure clinically meaningful machine learning models is to involve primary stakeholders in their development and interpretation. Including patient

Patient and Other Stakeholder Engagement in Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute Funded Studies of Patients with Kidney Diseases.

Including target populations in the design and implementation of research trials has been one response to the growing health disparities endemic to our health care system, as well as an aid to study generalizability. One type of community-based participatory research is "Patient Centered-Research", in which patient perspectives on the germane research questions and methodologies are incorporated into the study. The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) has mandated that meaningful patient and stakeholder engagement be incorporated into all applications. As of March 2015, PCORI f

Scaling up the global Green Bond market: Integrating global policy frameworks with stakeholder perceptions from Australia and the United Kingdom.

The Green Bond (GB) market has not been as effective as anticipated in tackling the global climate change crisis. There is a substantive investment gap worldwide in meeting the financing needs of green projects. Thus, this study reviewed key publications of international market players from 2007 to 2021 to identify how key stakeholders perceive the GB market. We employed a qualitative research approach using document analysis. In addition to this, a number of interviews were conducted to validate the findings by providing suggestive and supportive evidence. The findings indicate structural con

Advancing Food Is Medicine Research: An EPIS-Informed Qualitative Study of Stakeholder Views.

IntroductionDiet quality in the United States remains poor and contributes to chronic disease. Food is medicine (FIM) interventions integrate healthy foods into health care to manage or treat diet-related illness. Although evidence supports the nutrition-health link, less is known about how to implement FIM programs effectively in real-world settings or how to design FIM research across complex delivery systems. Guided by the Exploration, Preparation, Implementation, and Sustainment (EPIS) framework, this qualitative study examines early implementation experiences from the American Heart Assoc
