Since 1977, 22 patients with hereditary angioneurotic oedema have been treated with androgenic-anabolic steroids (danazol or stanozolol). Four patients with pityriasis rubra pilaris are reported. The diagnosis in each was based upon well-recognized clinical features. Two of them, a mother and son, had the disease since childhood and were marked by relative remission in spring and exacerbation in autumn. Moderate to severe pruritus was a common dominator. Erythroderma was a presenting feature in one case. Although histopathology was considered imperative, it only supplemented the clinical expression. Vitamin A in heavy dosage, supplemented by vitamin E and stanozolol in tandem, was the mainstay of treatment.

Acquired pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) has attracted more and more attention in hematology. PRCA usually caused by infection, autoimmune diseases, thymic carcinoma, or drugs, has not been reported by radioactive iodine. Here we report a case of PRCA after radioactive iodine therapies (two times, 100 mCi and 130 mCi each) in a patient with papillary thyroid carcinoma and follow up for two years. she was treatment with cyclosporine (100mg twice per day), stanozolol (2mg three times per day) and diammonium glycyrrhizinate (150mg three times per day), returned to the normal range in 2024.

BACKGROUND: A 15-year-old young man with a history of recurrent streptococcal pharyngitis and hereditary angioedema presented for tonsillectomy. Preoperative physical examination was normal with the exception of enlarged pharyngeal tonsils with crypts and pustules; there was no evidence of angioedema. Laboratory studies were remarkable for a C4 level of 8 mg/dL (normal 20-50 mg/dL) and C1 inhibitor (C1 INH) level of 4 mg/dL (normal 11-26 mg/dL).
OBJECTIVE: To report the use of C1 INH concentrate as prophylactic treatment for a patient with hereditary angioedema who required tonsillectomy.
