Nitrogen oxides are textbook class of molecular compounds, with extensive industrial applications. Nitrogen and oxygen are also among the most abundant elements in the universe. We explore the N-O system at 0 K and up to 500 GPa though ab initio evolutionary simulations. Results show that two phase transformations of stable molecular NO2 occur at 7 and 64 GPa, and followed by decomposition of NO2 at 91 GPa. All of the NO(+)NO3(-) structures are found to be metastable at T = 0 K, so experimentally reported ionic NO(+)NO3(-) is either metastable or stabilized by temperature. N2O5 becomes stable

Atomically thin van der Waals crystals epitomize ideal material systems in the two-dimensional (2D) limit. This reduction in dimensionality often leads to important consequences, best exemplified by the emergence of new physics in graphene and other 2D materials that can be readily tuned by gating1,2. Vast opportunities arise in extending this top-down approach to other material systems. Recent experiments have demonstrated that the essential physics of high-temperature superconductivity in cuprates is contained within just two CuO2 planes3. Here we push dimensionality reduction to the extreme

Several hydrogen-rich superconductors have been found to show unprecedentedly high critical temperatures1-4, stimulating investigations into the nature of the superconductivity in these materials. Although their macroscopic superconducting properties are established1,5-7, microscopic insights into the pairing mechanism remains unclear. Here we characterize the superconducting gap structure in the high-temperature superconductor H3S and its deuterium counterpart D3S by performing tunnelling spectroscopy measurements. The tunnelling spectra reveal that H3S and D3S both have a fully gapped struct

Graphene's exceptional electronic mobility, gate-tunability, and contact transparency with superconducting materials make it ideal for exploring the superconducting proximity effect. However, the work function difference between graphene and superconductors causes unavoidable doping of graphene near contacts, forming a p-n junction in the hole-doped regime and reducing the contact transparency. This challenges the device implementation that exploits graphene's bipolarity. To address this limitation, we developed a new fabrication scheme for two-dimensional superconducting contacts that allows

The chemical interaction of Sn with H2 by X-ray diffraction methods at pressures of 180-210 GPa is studied. A previously unknown tetrahydride SnH4 with a cubic structure (fcc) exhibiting superconducting properties below TC = 72 K is obtained; the formation of a high molecular C2/m-SnH14 superhydride and several lower hydrides, fcc SnH2 , and C2-Sn12 H18 , is also detected. The temperature dependence of critical current density JC (T) in SnH4 yields the superconducting gap 2Δ(0) = 21.6 meV at 180 GPa. SnH4 has unusual behavior in strong magnetic fields: B,T-linear dependences of magnetoresista

In the present article we discuss theoretically the emergence of superconductivity in field cooled FeCr2S4. The chromium electrons form a triplett2gstates and due to antiferromagnetic exchange with the iron spins have Zeeman splitting. Applied, during preparation, magnetic field along the moment of iron ions, successively compensates the Zeeman splittings. The chromium electrons with zero Zeeman energy form Cooper pairs induced by iron magnons. In that way, we predict theoretically the existence of sequence of superconducting states in field cooled FeCr2S4. Actually there are three different s

Compression of hydrogen sulfide using first principles metadynamics and molecular dynamics calculations revealed a modulated structure with high proton mobility which exhibits a diffraction pattern matching well with experiment. The structure consists of a sublattice of rectangular meandering SH- chains and molecular-like H3 S+ stacked alternately in tetragonal and cubic slabs forming a long-period modulation. The novel structure offers a new perspective on the possible origin of the superconductivity at very high temperatures in which the conducting electrons in the SH chains are perturbed by

Electromagnetic signals are always composed of photons, although in the circuit domain those signals are carried as voltages and currents on wires, and the discreteness of the photon's energy is usually not evident. However, by coupling a superconducting quantum bit (qubit) to signals on a microwave transmission line, it is possible to construct an integrated circuit in which the presence or absence of even a single photon can have a dramatic effect. Such a system can be described by circuit quantum electrodynamics (QED)-the circuit equivalent of cavity QED, where photons interact with atoms o

Two-dimensional superconductivity is now well established in graphene-based systems, with many such realizations showing evidence for unconventional pairing1-6. Yet, in several of the gate-tuned phases that otherwise exhibit clear signatures of superconductivity, the resistance does not vanish as temperature is lowered, instead saturating at a finite value2,6-15. Here we report a systematic study of this behaviour in rhombohedral graphene on a WSe2 substrate, finding regions of gate space with zero-resistance superconductivity alongside others with finite saturation resistance. At zero magneti

Multiphase superconductors-materials that host two or more distinct superconductive phases-are exceptionally rare. Examples include heavy-fermion CeRh2As2 alongside some uranium compounds such as UPt3 and URhGe (refs. 1,2,3). In the multiphase p-wave superfluid 3He, complex vortex dynamics can occur at the phase boundary between the A and B phases4,5. Here we study the p-wave superconductor candidate UTe2 (refs. 6-8). On applying a magnetic field to access an intermediate regime straddling two distinct superconducting phases9,10, we find that direct current pulses can push the material in and

Interplay of crystal symmetry, strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC), and many-body interactions in low-dimensional materials provides a fertile ground for the discovery of unconventional electronic and magnetic properties and versatile functionalities. Two-dimensional (2D) allotropes of group 15 elements are appealing due to their structures and controllability over symmetries and topology under strong SOC. Here, we report the heteroepitaxial growth of a proximity-induced superconducting 2D square-lattice bismuth monolayer on superconducting Pb films. The square lattice of monolayer bismuth films

A superconducting critical temperature above 200 K has recently been discovered in H2S (or D2S) under high hydrostatic pressure1, 2. These measurements were interpreted in terms of a decomposition of these materials into elemental sulfur and a hydrogen-rich hydride that is responsible for the superconductivity, although direct experimental evidence for this mechanism has so far been lacking. Here we report the crystal structure of the superconducting phase of hydrogen sulfide (and deuterium sulfide) in the normal and superconducting states obtained by means of synchrotron X-ray diffraction mea

Superconducting circuits are promising candidates for constructing quantum bits (qubits) in a quantum computer; single-qubit operations are now routine, and several examples of two-qubit interactions and gates have been demonstrated. These experiments show that two nearby qubits can be readily coupled with local interactions. Performing gate operations between an arbitrary pair of distant qubits is highly desirable for any quantum computer architecture, but has not yet been demonstrated. An efficient way to achieve this goal is to couple the qubits to a 'quantum bus', which distributes quantum

Materials with a kagome lattice host exotic quantum phenomena driven by the interplay between band topology, spin-orbit coupling, magnetism, and electronic correlations. While the magnetism of kagome materials has been widely investigated, their unconventional superconductivity (SC) remains largely unexplored due to the limited availability of suitable materials. Here, we report evidence of unconventional SC in the ScIr 2 - x Si x family by combining muon-spin spectroscopy measurements with band-structure calculations. The parent ScIr 2 undergoes a structural phase transition from a high-

PURPOSE: The prevalence of sleep disturbances in children is recognized as far higher than previously estimated. Furthermore, data previously collected in Türkiye have not been thoroughly consolidated, and there are notable variations across research reporting prevalence rates. This meta-analysis seeks to assess the general prevalence of sleep disturbances among children and adolescents in Türkiye and to identify factors that may contribute to potential heterogeneity.
METHODS: The meta-analysis was performed as a systematic review adhering to PRISMA guidelines and PROSPERO registration. Studi

Spin-orbit coupling (SOC) has played an important role in many topological and correlated electron materials. In graphene-based systems, SOC induced by a transition metal dichalcogenide at close proximity has been shown to drive topological states and strengthen superconductivity. However, in rhombohedral multilayer graphene, a robust platform for electron correlation and topology, superconductivity and the role of SOC remain largely unexplored. Here we report transport measurements of transition metal dichalcogenide-proximitized rhombohedral trilayer graphene. We observed a hole-doped superco

Graphene and transition metal dichalcogenide flat-band systems show similar phase diagrams, replete with magnetic1-5 and superconducting6-11 phases. An abiding question has been whether magnetic ordering competes with superconductivity or facilitates pairing. For example, recent studies of Bernal bilayer graphene in the presence of enhanced spin-orbit coupling show a substantial increase in the observed domain and critical temperature Tc of superconducting states12-14; however, the mechanism for this enhancement remains unknown. Here we show that introducing spin-orbit coupling in rhombohedral

Research into the superconducting characteristics of materials has intrigued scientists for an extended period. This study examines the superconductivity of 3D metallic Haeckelite compounds (XY), characterized by square-octagonal structures and P 4 2 / m n m symmetry group. Utilizing first-principles calculations, we have performed a thorough examination of the dynamic stability, electronic structures, and electron-phonon coupling (EPC) in Haeckelite structures containing elements X = B , Be , Ni , Pd , Pt , Cu and Y = C , O , Se , S , Si , Te . Our analysis indicates that 14 compounds demo

Two-dimensional (2D) hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) with enhanced stability, high tunability, and strong spin-orbit coupling have shown great potential in vast applications. Here, we extend the already rich functionality of 2D HOIPs to a new territory, realizing topological superconductivity and Majorana modes for fault-tolerant quantum computation. Especially, we predict that room-temperature ferroelectric BA2PbCl4 (BA for benzylammonium) exhibits topological nodal-point superconductivity (NSC) and gapless Majorana modes on selected edges and ferroelectric domain walls when prox

Graphene-based, high-quality, two-dimensional electronic systems have emerged as a highly tunable platform for studying superconductivity1-21. Specifically, superconductivity has been observed in both electron- and hole-doped twisted graphene moiré systems1-17, whereas in crystalline graphene systems, superconductivity has so far been observed only in hole-doped rhombohedral trilayer graphene (RTG)18 and hole-doped Bernal bilayer graphene (BBG)19-21. Recently, enhanced superconductivity has been demonstrated20,21 in BBG because of the proximity to a monolayer WSe2. Here we report the observati
