From 1972 through 1982, 124 patients with muscle invasive T2/T3 bladder carcinoma without evidence of distant metastases were treated with definitive radiotherapy (60 Gy in 6 weeks) to the pelvis at The Norwegian Radium Hospital. Female genital condylomata acuminata were examined for DNA content. Diploid and polyploid DNA distributions, including tetraploidy and octaploidy, were found. These findings are in clear counter-distinction to squamous intraepithelial lesions, which have been found to be aneuploid. DNA quantitation, therefore, can be used in difficult cases to distinguish between condylomatous and neoplastic epithelium.

Introgressive hybridisation between arctic dwarf birch (Betula nana) and European downy birch (B. pubescens) is relatively common in natural woodlands in Iceland. BACKGROUND: Stomatal variation, including guard cell (GC) density, size and chloroplast number, is often used to differentiate polyploids from diploids. However, few works have focused on stomatal variation with respect to polyploidization, especially for consecutively different ploidy levels within a plant species. Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a major risk factor for secondary malignancy after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Morphologically typical uterine cervical biopsies were separated into normal cervices, condylomas and cervical intraepithelial neoplasias (CIN) grades I, II and III. At least 100 nuclei per lesion were measured on 4 micron Feulgen-stained sections using a Zeiss microspectrophotometer, with a variant of the plug method used to compute the nuclear DNA content.
