Congenital tracheobronchomegaly, also known as Mounier-Kuhn syndrome (MKS), is an uncommon illness characterised by dilatation of the major bronchi and recurrent chest infections. Tracheobronchomegaly may also be accompanied by tracheal and bronchial diverticula. We report the case of a middle-aged woman with a complaint of uterine prolapse for which a hysterectomy is planned. The patient complained of recurrent cough with expectoration for the last 6 years; hence, a radiograph of the chest and CT of the thorax were advised. A radiograph of the chest and thoracic CT showed dilation and numerou

BACKGROUND: Mounier-Kuhn syndrome or tracheobronchomegaly is a rare disorder characterized by marked dilatation of the trachea and main bronchi, bronchiectasis, and recurrent respiratory tract infections. Its clinical presentation may vary and mimick a variety of disorders.
CASE REPORT: A 43-year-old female patient, non smoker, complained of intermittent mild dyspnea. Lung function tests and cardiologic findings were within normal limits. The diagnosis was established by computed tomography, which was undertaken due to recurrent lower respiratory tract infections suggestive of bronchiectasis.

INTRODUCTION: Mounier-Kuhn syndrome or tracheobronchomegaly is a rare congenital condition, the management of which is complex. We report the case of a patient who was treated with interventional endoscopy.
OBSERVATION: We describe the case of a 74-year-old man with a diagnosis of tracheobronchomegaly who was admitted in 2003 with a background of deteriorating respiratory status and the occurrence of postural syncope. He initially received a tracheobronchial silicone Y prosthesis, extended with metal prostheses at the tracheal and bronchial level. This arrangement remained stable until 2011.

A 48-year-old man presented with recurrent bronchopulmonary infections of many years' standing. The diagnosis of tracheobronchomegaly (Mounier-Kuhn syndrome) was based on CT examination and subsequent bronchoscopy. Since lung transplantation was not considered advisable, a biluminal stent was inserted to prevent bronchial collapse.

D-penicillamine, added to a low copper diet fed through pregnancy or given by gavage to pregnant rts which were on a copper-deficient or a normal diet produced fetal resorptions and malformations. Doses of 300 to 400 mg per day for 6 days (days 9-14 or gestation) with a diet normal for copper prevented maternal weight gain and at 350 or 400 mg/day caused fetal death on day 16 or 17. Forty percent of offspring had tracheobronchomegaly and 42% had cystic lungs. Associated abnormalities included pleural hemorrhages, dilated esophagi, and anaerated lungs. The lungs had large, poorly formed, thick-

Objective and importance Mounier Kuhn syndrome is usually diagnosed in adulthood, and only a few cases have been described in childhood. Clinical presentation We present the case of a seven-year-old boy suffering from recurrent pneumonia and atelectasis. Intervention Previously performed chest X-rays showed bilateral hyperinflation and tracheobronchomegaly. Chest computed tomography (CT) confirmed the presence of distal enlargement of trachea and bronchi. Tracheobronchomegaly associated with recurrent respiratory tract infections is consistent with Mounier Kuhn syndrome. Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Tracheobronchomegaly, also called Mounier-Kuhn syndrome, consists in dilatation of the trachea and major bronchi because of atrophy or absence of their elastic fibers and smooth muscle cells. Standard chest radiography often does not permit diagnosis because only lateral imaging, obtained with X-rays or chest CT scan, shows the true degree of tracheal dilatation. Surgery has no role in tracheomegaly, except for the complications of tracheal stenosis or pneumothorax. The present work reports cadaveric renal transplantation in a 43-year-old woman affected by end-stage renal disease and suffering

Mounier-Kuhn syndrome (MKS), or tracheobronchomegaly, is a rare clinical and radiologic condition characterized by pronounced tracheobronchial dilation and recurrent lower respiratory tract infections. Tracheobronchomegaly presents when the defect extends to the central bronchi. MKS can be diagnosed in adult women when the transverse and sagittal diameters of the trachea, right mainstem bronchus, and left mainstem bronchus exceed 21, 23, 19.8, and 17.4 mm, respectively. Its diagnosis is based on chest radiograph and chest computed tomography (CT). Patients, usually middle-aged men, may be asym

To illustrate and describe computed tomographic large airway pathology and correlate with fiberoptic bronchoscopy findings. Commonly encountered diseases of the large airway include tracheobronchial amyloidosis, tracheobronchopathia osteochondroplastica, tracheobronchomegaly, laryngotracheobronchial papillomatosis, relapsing polychondritis, Wegener granulomatosis, sarcoidosis, and tracheal stenosis. Computed tomography manifestations and bronchoscopic findings of these selected large airway diseases are discussed.

RATIONALE: Patients with Mounier-Kuhn syndrome (MKS), a rare disorder characterized by tracheobronchomegaly (<0.3% prevalence), develop pathological tracheobronchial dilation secondary to elastic fiber atrophy. MKS predisposes patients to recurrent infections and presents significant airway challenges during general anesthesia. Early radiological recognition is critical to prevent perioperative crises. This case report aims to highlight the critical importance of radiologically identifying MKS preoperatively to avoid potentially life-threatening perioperative airway complications-an aspect tha

Backgroud: Pathologies of the trachea and large bronchi are a heterogeneous group of rare structural disorders of the airway wall that are frequently underdiagnosed because their symptoms overlap with common respiratory diseases. Methods: We present three patients with chronic cough and dyspnea lasting approximately three years who had previously received multiple incorrect diagnoses, including COPD, asthma, gastroesophageal reflux, and acute bronchitis. Case Description: Following hospitalization for acute respiratory failure, comprehensive differential diagnostic workups revealed Mounier-Kuh

INTRODUCTION: We describe 2 patients with AA renal amyloidosis secondary to bronchiectasis (one patient had tracheobronchomegaly or Mounier-Kuhn syndrome).
CASE REPORTS: The time period between the diagnosis of bronchiectasis and the development of renal amyloidosis was 40 years and 30 years respectively. Both patients evolved to end-stage renal failure requiring dialysis.
CONCLUSION: Although the incidence of renal amyloidosis secondary to bronchectasis has declined, it remains a dreadful complication.

Tracheomalacia is a process characterized by softness of the supporting tracheal cartilages, by the extension of the posterior membranous wall and by reduction of the tracheal antero-posterior diameter. Exceptionally, tracheomalacia can be associated with tracheobronchomegaly or Mounier-Kuhn syndrome. Fibro-bronchoscopy represents the ''gold standard'' for diagnosis. The case of a 79-year-old male observed after hospitalization in a medical ward for chronic pulmonary obstructive disease (COPD) decompensation, and with basal left bronchopulmonary focus, is described. During this period, a progr

Tracheobronchomegaly or Mounier-Kuhn syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by the widening of the trachea and the main bronchi. It is a form of tracheomalacia called 'cartilaginous malacic' and is characterized by deformation of the tracheal cartilages and intrusion of the redundant membranous wall into the lumen of the airway. We present a patient with Mounier-Kuhn syndrome managed like patients with tracheomalacia of other aetiologies-a tracheobronchoplasty with a reconstructed D-shaped trachea and stabilization of the posterior membranous wall by attaching a polypropylene mesh to the po
