Erectile dysfunction (ED) is an often undiagnosed but significantly prevalent condition among male dermato-venereological patients, characterized by a complex pathophysiology and a substantial impact on quality of life. This review aimed to synthesize recent literature on the increased risk of ED in skin diseases, the underlying pathogenic mechanisms-including vasculogenic, endocrine, neurogenic, psychogenic and immunologic pathways-as well as the dermatologist's role in managing patients' sexual health. Inflammatory conditions (e.g. psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, lichen simplex chronicus and c

Generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is an autoinflammatory disease characterized by primarily sterile pustules, with a widespread distribution, and flares that can be associated with life-threatening complications. Spesolimab (Spevigo®) is the only drug approved for treatment and prevention of GPP flares, and there are uncertainties that justify the development by the Psoriasis Group (GPs) of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AEDV) of a Delphi consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of this rare disease. A panel of experts, starting from a literature search in PubMed (since

BACKGROUND: Traditional teaching in undergraduate dermatology and venereology often prioritizes theoretical knowledge over clinical competency development. To address this limitation, we implemented a hybrid instructional model that combines scenario-based simulation with lecture-based learning (Sim + LBL). METHODS: This prospective cohort study included two consecutive undergraduate cohorts from Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University. The 2018 cohort (n = 164) received traditional LBL, while the 2019 cohort (n = 182) was taught using Sim + LBL in the dermatology and venereology

BACKGROUND: Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) remain a major global public health concern. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between sexual orientation and sexual behaviors among patients diagnosed with STIs. Understanding this relationship is essential for clinical practice at the National Hospital of Dermatology and Venereology, as it informs individualized risk assessment, counseling, and preventive interventions across diverse patient populations. In addition, such evidence contributes to the development of targeted STI-prevention strategies that are both culturally app

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease primarily affecting apocrine gland-rich areas of the body and presenting with painful nodules, abscesses, sinus tracts, and scarring (1). HS is a defect of the follicular epithelium; some have therefore called for the naming the disease acne inversa instead of hidradenitis suppurativa. The term acne inversa links the pathogenesis to acne and reflects the fact that it is an expression of follicular occlusion in localizations inverse to acne vulgaris (2). HS typically occurs after puberty. Studies have shown that the average on

Bullous pemphigoid is the most common autoimmune subepidermal blistering disease of the skin and mucous membranes. This disease typically affects the elderly and presents with itch and localized or generalized bullous lesions. In up to 20% of affected patients, bullae may be completely absent, and only excoriations, prurigo-like lesions, eczematous lesions, urticated lesions and/or infiltrated plaques are observed. The disease is significantly associated with neurological disorders. The morbidity of bullous pemphigoid and its impact on quality of life are significant. So far, a limited number

A total of 803 patients participated in a consecutive review of the disease pattern concerning venereal diseases. The investigation took place in the Clinic for Venereal Diseases in Nuuk/Godthåb during a period of three months. Less than half of the contacts were on account of symptoms of genital infection. One fifth of the patients had been summoned for partner control. A corresponding proportion felt well and had not been exposed to any known risk of infection. Chlamydia trachomatis was demonstrated in 19% and gonorrhoea in 10%. Among the asymptomatic persons, 16% were found to be Chlamydia

Zoonotic cutaneous leishmaniasis (ZCL) is a disease of an ancient history and more or less encountered in several Egyptian Governorates. However, no data is available concerning CL. in Qualyobia Governorate. In the present study, a number of 10920 patients who attended the outpatient's clinic of Dermatology and Venereology, during the year 1991, were clinically examined for any manifestations suggesting CL. Lesion when present was examined by Giemsa stained smear and N.N.N. medium culture. Serum samples were separated from blood of suspected CL. cases for detection of antileishmanial antibodie

Background/Objectives: One of the problematic situations dermatologists face with their patients is communicating dismal diagnoses. Examples are the diagnosis and prognosis of skin cancers like melanoma and Merkel cell carcinoma and the disclosure of the chronic nature of a disease that requires long-term therapies or can lead to scarring or disfiguring conditions. Likewise, receiving a diagnosis of a sexually transmitted infection can be a shocking event that can also put into question the patient's relationship with his/her partner/partners. Some oncology and internal medicine protocols have

INTRODUCTION: Linear IgA dermatosis (LAD) is a rare subepidermal autoimmune bullous disease (AIBD) defined by predominant or exclusive immune deposits of immunoglobulin A at the basement membrane zone of skin or mucous membranes. This disorder is a rare, clinically and immunologically heterogeneous disease occurring both in children and in adults. The aim of this project is to present the main clinical features of LAD, to propose a diagnostic algorithm and provide management guidelines based primarily on experts' opinion because of the lack of large methodologically sound clinical studies.

Bath PUVA is a variant of phototherapy as efficacious as oral PUVA therapy that avoids many of the adverse effects associated to this treatment. Nevertheless, the special features and the specialized equipment required for its employment have limited its application in the dermatologic clinics of our country. Following the trend initiated after the publication of the consensus document on oral PUVA therapy and narrow band (NB) UVB therapy, the Spanish Photobiology Group from the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology has developed a therapeutic guideline for bath PUVA therapy based on
