The authors observed 24 patients with wounds of the liver and injuries of extrahepatic bile ducts and vessels. In 14 patients with stab-cut injuries of the liver catgut sutures were used, in 3 patients catgut sutures with suturing the portion of the greater omentum on the pedicle. The microsurgery technique was used in order to reestablish the integrity of the hepatic artery, portal vein and common bile duct. Three patients died.

BACKGROUND: Sea urchins inhabit rocky areas and lagoons near tourist bathing sites. These animals have sharp spicules on their surfaces that cause injuries to bathers.
METHODS: Over 24 months, the author identified sea urchin species and mapped the beaches where injuries occurred. Samples of spicules were stored. In some patients, spicules were extracted using fine watchmaker's forceps. The intensity of pain and late infections were also recorded.

Approaches to validation of indications and contraindications for interventions in wounded patients and victims were developed on the basis of many-year experience. The desirability of intervention is determined primarily by strategic tasks which it solves. The operation is to be performed despite severe clinical condition if it removes the cause of critical state or creates conditions for preventing life-threatening complications of the traumatic disease. All the rest interventions can be postponed till complete or partial compensation of vital systems.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate functional outcomes and characteristics associated with gunshot wound (GSW) to the spine.
METHODS: Patients with GSW to the spine managed at a Level 1 Trauma Center from January 2003 to December 2017 were enrolled. Patient demographics, diagnoses, level of injury, American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) score, ambulatory status at follow-up, bowel and bladder function, clinical improvement, and mortality were evaluated. Clinical improvement was defined as a progression in ambulatory status category at latest follow up.
