AIMS: To report 18 yolk sac tumours (YSTs) of the female genital tract (17 ovary, one uterus) in patients aged 40 years or over, most arising from a somatic epithelial neoplasm.

Teratoid hepatoblastoma (HB) is a variant of mixed HB described as having a mixture of heterologous components. A 3-year-old boy presented for a liver transplant evaluation due to persistent HB. A 14-month-old girl was evaluated for intermittent vaginal bleeding. Vaginoscopy revealed a friable tumor, and biopsy results confirmed a yolk sac tumor. AIMS: To investigate the association between increased yolk sac diameter and abnormal karyotype.
METHODS: Retrospective analysis of 42 patients with no history of diabetes between 6 and 12 weeks of gestation with increased yolk sac diameter measuring ≥6 mm was evaluated by transvaginal ultrasound. Yolk sac tumour is a rare malignant tumour of germ cell origin that usually arises from the gonads. It is extremely rare in the head and neck. We present a case of a yolk sac tumour that involved the floor of the mouth in a 14-month-old Chinese girl. The diagnosis was confirmed by histological examination that showed characteristic Schiller-Duval bodies, and immunohistochemical examination that showed α-fetoprotein being expressed within the cytoplasm of the neoplastic cells. Primary germ cell tumors may spread to the lung, liver, brain, and bone hematogenously. However, spinal metastasis is extremely rare. A case with yolk sac tumor (YST) and cauda equina metastasis was presented in a 2-year-old boy. Two months prior to admisssion, he underwent left radical orchiectomy for testicular YST. Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed spinal and cauda equina involvement. This is the first report of metastasis of testicular YST to cauda equina in a child.

Yolk sac tumor (YST) is a germ cell neoplasm usually arising from the gonads. Extragonadal YST has been reported in the mediastinum, retroperitoneum, liver, and pelvis. Primary YST of the common bile duct (CBD) has not been previously reported. We describe an 11-month-old girl with a YST arising from the CBD who presented with obstructive jaundice. Extragonadal germ cell tumors are germ cell tumors with no evidence of a primary tumor within the gonads, most often located in the mediastinum or retroperitoneum. We present an extragonadal yolk sac tumor that presented as an adrenal carcinoma and required left adrenalectomy, nephrectomy, and significant IVC thrombectomy. The most frequent location for non-metastatic germ cell tumors is the anterior mediastinum. Primary lung germ cell tumors are an exception in medical literature being limited to just a few cases of choriocarcinomas and rare cases of yolk-sac tumors.
