AIM: The aim of this study is to explore relationships between burden of care in parents of patients with schizophrenia or personality disorders and family interactions. Two main types of family interactions were distinguished according to Stierlin's theory: binding and expelling. Whereas binding leads to an increase in mutual dependency, expelling leads to a rise of mutual independence.
METHOD: Families were divided into three groups according to the ICD-10 diagnosis of the index offspring (18-35 years old): (1) schizophrenia (N=33), (2) personality disorder (N=35), (3) control group (N=35).

The relationship between anhedonia and sensation seeking has been studied in 56 normal subjects of both sexes (33 males, 23 females). Anhedonia and sensation seeking were respectively defined by two reliable rating scales: Physical Anhedonia Scale of Chapman (PAS), Zuckerman's Sensation Seeking Scale (SS form V -40 items). The results have shown a negative correlation between this scales for males but not for females. These finding suggest that lowered levels of sensation seeking could constitute for males, like anhedonia, a risk factor of schizophrenia.

Vigilance is required in order to detect the cardinal signs of neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS), especially after prolonged exposure to neuroleptics. In this case, NMS was diagnosed in a 29-year-old man, who had been on fluphenazine decanoate for over one year, coinciding with a cessation of his neuroleptic medication. Vigorous treatment, including assisted ventilation, was necessary, extending over three months. On recovery, his mental state and social functioning had undergone a sustained improvement sufficient for his release from hospital.

PURPOSE: Suicidal and non-suicidal self-injuries are types of self-directed violence that can become complex health issues. This study assessed how and to what degree the factors of self-injuries are interrelated among enrolled students.
METHODS: A total of 1481 students were recruited from college and middle or secondary schools, and 1465 (98.92%) subjects comprised the final sample. Mixed graphical models were used to establish network structures. Also explore their shortest paths and conduct a regression analysis.
