A case of malignant hemangioendothelioma of the spleen is reported. Light and electron microscopic evidence suggests that the tumor is a neoplastic proliferation of the two cell types, one resembling the "sinus endothelial" cell of the normal spleen, and the other resembling the "fixed reticular cell" of splenic red pulp.

Congenital malformations of the nasal ala may occur as isolated unilateral nasal alar defects or as part of more severe facial clefting syndromes. The embryologic significance of the isolated alar deformity seems separate from other craniofacial deformities and justified comment. Clinical examples of isolated nasal alar malformations are correlated with a study of 60 human embryos ranging from seven to 10 weeks gestation. These studies indicate that the nasal and alar developmental fields each have a separate critical time during which cells are most susceptible to altered development.

Sixty-seven cases of eclampsia were managed from 1977 to 1980, for an incidence of 1 in 310 deliveries. Eighty-four percent of patients were nulliparous and 82% had received some prenatal care. Prior to convulsion, 14 patients (21%) had a diastolic blood pressure below 90 mmHg, 39% had no edema, and 21% had no proteinuria. Thirty-seven patients (55%) had their first convulsion in the hospital. Eight patients had convulsions while receiving magnesium sulfate therapy. A comparison of the reontgenologic pattern of 100 cases of lymphoma of the small bowel with the clinical and pathological findings revealed three basic types: 1. We investigated the changes in serum lipid concentrations of patients treated with Etofibrate as part of their routine management in the metabolic ambulatory care unit of the Medical Policlinic at the University of Marburg. In our study, 26 patients who had not responded well to prior treatment for Types IIa, IIb, III and IV hyperlipoproteinemia were given a daily dose of 900 mg Etofibrate for up to 48 months. A family is reported in which the mother and two sons are carriers of a Y-X translocation. The distal segment of the short arm of the X chromosome appears to have been deleted to give place to a translocation of the distal part of the long arm of the Y chromosome. Apart from short stature the mother is essentially free of stigmata, while the sons show a combination of mental retardation, hypertelorism, simian creases, clinodactyly, scanty palmar lines, and dry fragile skin. The cases described are discussed against the background of the few known previously published cases.

The percentage of eosinophils (%EOS), determined from a differential blood smear, was measured in 2,311 subjects enrolled in a general population study in Tucson, Arizona. A subgroup of 290 subjects was tested in more detail during a later evaluation in which absolute eosinophil counts, leukocyte counts, and nasal smears for eosinophils were obtained. During a 20 month period, 110 women with gonococcal pelvic inflammatory disease an 165 women with uncomplicated gonorrhea were provided intensive case-finding services (interviewing of patients and tracing of contacts).
