Ninety-five patients suffering from onchocerciasis in Lagos, Nigeria have been presented. The majority were young adults with no ocular complications suggesting the Rain Forest type of African onchocerciasis. Geographical distribution shows that the majority came from endemic foci outside Lagos. The case finding of five patients from Lagos State and in particular two from Lagos City suggests an endemicity of onchocerciasis in Lagos. An evaluation of the E.L.I.S.A. method, compared to the indirect hemagglutination (I.H.) and to the counterimmunoelectrophoresis (CIEP) tests for the biological diagnosis of hydatidosis, was performed on 31 sera of patients, carrier of hydatid cysts, on 17 sera of patients with other infectious and parasitic diseases, and on 7 sera of blood donors. Obstructive hydrocephlus was produced in 10-14 day-old rabbits by injection of kaolin into the cisterna magna and the ependyma and subependymal tissue was studied by electron microscopy. Generally, the study confirmed recent light microscopic observations on similar models (Torvik et al., 1976). Spontaneous precipitation of deposits on duodenal cannulae were observed in laboratory dogs. X ray diffraction study demonstrated that apatite was always present, while other calcium salts, such as gypsum and brushite, were sometimes present. Hormonal regulation of testicular descent has been investigated. Based on experimental studies using the rat and on a review of clinical material it has been determined that testicular descent is an androgen-mediated event directly under the regulation of pituitary gonadotropin. A rapid gas chromatographic method for determination of sodium valproic acid (di-n-propylacetate, DPA) is described. A new sample can be injected every third min, and the reproducibility, in terms of the coefficient of variation, is better than 3%. Clinical examination of the teeth and the mouth was carried out on a group of 133 "Old Believers," 54 males and 79 females, and a control group of 138 Poles living in the same area of Augostova in northeast Poland, 63 males and 75 females. Studying the frequency of Carabelli's cusp, shovel-shaped incisors, missing teeth, microdonita, supernumerary teeth, and torus palatinus in both groups, it was found that Carabelli's cusp and torus palatinus are more frequent among Poles. Such differences could be attributed to differences in ethnic origin of the two groups.

The evolution in the management of urinary incontinence with electronic stimulation of the pelvic floor is reviewed. The effect of stimulation is analyzed. Fifty-nine patients with Legg-Perthes disease and 12 others were studied using 99mTc-polyphosphate and the pinhole collimator imaging technique. A malignant Schwannoma of the cauda equina has been studied in long-term organotypic culture. Electron-microscopic observation demonstrates that, along with tissue organization, characteristic cell differentiation was retained in this type of culture, but with some morphological changes.
