Development of micro-sequestra and associated histological changes in tooth extraction sockets of zoledronate-treated mice.

OBJECTIVES: Administration of bisphosphonates to mice do not always impair healing after tooth extraction. However, it is unclear whether there are any histological differences between the macroscopically healed extraction sockets of bisphosphonate- and saline-injected mice. METHODS: Mice received a single intravenous injection of 540 μg/kg zoledronic acid or saline, and the maxillary first molars were extracted one week later. Healing of the extraction sockets was examined histologically and by micro-computed tomography. RESULTS: Zoledronic acid and saline did not impair gross wound healing

Inhibitory effects of salmosin, a disintegrin, on posterior capsular opacification in vitro and in vivo.

The proliferation, migration and transdifferentiation of the remaining lens epithelial cells (LECs) after cataract surgery are a major cause of posterior capsular opacification (PCO). It has previously been reported that salmosin, a novel disintegrin, significantly inhibits solid tumor growth in mice by perturbation of tumor-specific angiogenesis via blocking alpha v beta 3 integrin expressed on vascular endothelial cells. In this study, the inhibitory function of salmosin in PCO was investigated and was found that salmosin inhibits the attachment of bovine LECs and rabbit lens cells (N/N1003A

Context-Aware Data Augmentation for Detection, Segmentation, and Quantitative Analysis of Mitotic Figures in Melanoma Whole-Slide Images.

Mitotic figure counting is critical for evaluating melanoma proliferation and prognosis, but manual counting is subjective and poorly reproducible, and the sparse distribution of mitotic figures in whole-slide images leads to a scarcity of training data. To address this, we propose a context-aware copy-paste data augmentation framework (CACPASTE) that integrates histopathological priors. CACPASTE ensures biological rationality and morphological fidelity through tissue region constraints and cell morphology simulation, and uses an adaptive fusion strategy for natural background integration.
