The changes in the cerebellar activation pattern of two successive fMRI scanning runs were determined for visually guided to-and-fro saccades in 12 healthy volunteers familiar with the study paradigm. Group and single subject-analyses revealed a constant activation of the paramedian cerebellar vermis (uvula, tonsils, tuber, folium/declive), which reflects constant ocular motor activity in both runs. Treatment of syringomyelia utilizes two operative approaches: posterior fossa decompression and syrinx shunting (including subarachnoid, pleural and peritoneal shunting). MRI study is nowadays the indispensable tool for the evaluation of patients with syringomyelia and allows to choose the best therapeutic option. BACKGROUND: Four patients with chromoblastomycosis are presented. An additional 30 infected Indian patients are reviewed.
RESULTS: These 34 patients ranged in age from 12 to 80 years with a male to female ratio of 5.8 : 1. Onset before the age of 20 years was seen in 24% of cases which was comparatively high. Sixteen pigs aged 5 to 7 weeks were inoculated intranasally with the pneumotropic strain 4892 of Aujeszky's disease virus (ADV) in a dose of 2 x 10(5) TCID50. Pigs died or were killed on day 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 20 or 30 post-inoculation (PI). Two further pigs were kept as negative (uninfected) controls.
