INTRODUCTION: Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in obese patients poses multiple challenges and there is a lack of consensus on various aspects of TKA in this patient population. This study is a modified Delphi consensus study of international experts to provide recommendations on TKA in obese patients.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The consensus statements were generated using an anonymized two-round modified Delphi questionnaire, sent to an international panel of 53 knee surgeons, with an 80% agreement being set as the limit for consensus. The responses were analysed using descriptive statistics, with

BACKGROUND: Emerging zoonotic diseases account for 75% of new infectious threats worldwide due to increasing human-animal-environment interactions, land-use change, wildlife trade, and climate variability. The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the need for integrated, joint approaches such as One Health to strengthen prevention, early detection, and response to zoonotic risks. The study objective is to synthesize evidence on the burden, drivers, challenges, and One Health strategies for combating emerging zoonotic diseases, and to identify actions to improve implementation at local, national, regi

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a biologically heterogeneous whole-joint disorder characterized by cartilage damage, synovitis, subchondral bone remodeling, pain, and progressive functional decline. Although OA has long been viewed primarily as a mechanically driven disorder, clinical and experimental evidence indicates that lipid metabolic dysregulation contributes to OA susceptibility, symptom burden, and disease progression in at least a subset of patients. This review focuses on how lipid metabolic dysregulation shapes inflammatory, catabolic, and survival pathways in OA, with particular emphasis o

Pediatric psoriasis is a chronic, immune-mediated inflammatory disease that frequently begins in childhood or adolescence. Beyond cutaneous involvement, it is associated with a wide spectrum of metabolic, psychological, and inflammatory comorbidities, as well as a marked impairment in health-related quality of life in both patients and their caregivers. This narrative review summarizes current evidence on comorbidities, treatment challenges, unmet needs, and future directions in pediatric psoriasis. Available data indicate an increased risk of overweight and obesity, the clustering of cardiome

Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs) have been in use for 20 years. There have been concerns about their safety in patients with neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs). The reports of GLP-1 receptor (GLP-1R)-driven proliferation of C-cell neoplasms in rodent studies had led to the black-box warning against their use in patients with medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2. In this review, we have attempted to evaluate the physiological and pathological expression of GLP-1Rs in various endocrine organs and summarize the preclinical and clinical evidence regar

Cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic (CKM) syndrome was formalized by the American Heart Association in 2023 to capture the biological and clinical continuum linking excess adiposity, metabolic dysfunction, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and cardiovascular disease (CVD). Population-based studies indicate that CKM stage ≥1 affects approximately three-quarters to nine-tenths of adults in contemporary cohorts, with stage 2 consistently representing the largest population reservoir. Importantly, CKM distribution is not uniform: advanced stages rise sharply with age and are more frequent in men and socio

Climate change has led to more frequent and intense extreme weather events (EWEs) globally, with sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) being disproportionately affected. Given the region's socioeconomic vulnerability and strong reliance on agriculture for subsistence, EWEs have the potential to affect the local population's mental health. The present systematic review synthesizes evidence on the impacts of EWEs on mental health in SSA, examining moderators and the pathways by which EWEs affect mental health, and identifying particularly vulnerable populations. In accordance with the PRISMA guidelines, we s

Since 1978, the Rohingya population has faced multiple humanitarian crises, including racial disparities, which significantly escalated during 2017, leading to widespread exile from Myanmar. Reportedly, violence, persecution, and trauma have posed grievous impacts on the mental health of these forcibly displaced people. This scoping review aimed to synthesize the evidence regarding the overall epidemiologic burden of psychological problems of Rohingya refugees with their associated factors. We evaluated five major databases and additional sources till July 31, 2024, and included articles accor

BACKGROUND: Heat stress (HS) is a major environmental challenge for broilers, particularly under rising global temperatures and high humidity. Broiler chickens are highly susceptible because of their rapid growth rate, high metabolic heat production, limited thermoregulatory capacity and genetic selection for fast growth.
OBJECTIVE: This review aims to synthesise current evidence, evaluate the effectiveness of existing mitigation strategies, identify key knowledge gaps and provide future research directions to improve broiler resilience, welfare and productivity under increasingly HS conditio
