A commercial broiler flock in the Central Valley of California experienced a sudden increase in mortality due to heavy culling. Clinical signs included a snick, swollen heads and severe depression. In the last six years, anterior mandibulotomy was used to approach tumours of the oropharynx and oral cavity in 39 cases. Twenty-six of these had primary lesions in the anterior two-thirds of the tongue. Eight cases had lesions in the base tongue, three in the cheek, and two in the tonsil. Phenotypes of the tumor cells of malignant histiocytosis (MH) were studied by using monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies in 18 autopsy cases. The tumor cells expressed different antigens in various degrees. Almost all tumor cells showed positive reaction for alpha 1-ACT; partially for alpha 1-AT, LCA and a few for lysozyme as well as LeuM1. It was most likely that the tumor cells of MH originated from the mononuclear phagocytic system (MPS). In order to reveal the relationship between MH and immunodeficiency, morphological changes of the lympho-reticular system in 18 cases of MH were studied.

Tonsillar enlargement is a more common cause of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in the pediatric population than it is in adults. A glycoprotein of 70 kDa (GP70) was isolated from sera of Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) patients and used to immunize rabbits. The late results of abscess tonsillectomy as a routine treatment of peritonsillar abscess were investigated. The material comprises 113 patients. Follow-up was performed two to five years after the operation (bilateral dissection tonsillectomy under general anesthesia). Symptoms of pharyngitis, recurrent or chronic, were present in 17 percent of the patients, in most cases without major objective changes in the throat. OBJECTIVES: To study the characteristics and clinical value of intestinal metabolites in children aged 4-6 years with obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).
METHODS: A total of 31 children aged 4-6 years with OSAHS were prospectively enrolled as the test group, and 24 healthy children aged 4-6 years were included as the control group. Relevant clinical indicators were recorded. Fecal samples were collected, and non-targeted metabolomics analysis using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry was performed to detect all metabolites.
