Synthetic Medical Images for Robust, Privacy-Preserving Training of Artificial Intelligence: Application to Retinopathy of Prematurity Diagnosis.

PURPOSE: Developing robust artificial intelligence (AI) models for medical image analysis requires large quantities of diverse, well-chosen data that can prove challenging to collect because of privacy concerns, disease rarity, or diagnostic label quality. Collecting image-based datasets for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), a potentially blinding disease, suffers from these challenges. Progressively growing generative adversarial networks (PGANs) may help, because they can synthesize highly realistic images that may increase both the size and diversity of medical datasets. DESIGN: Diagnostic

Student Education Management Strategy Based on Artificial Intelligence Information Model under the Support of 5G Wireless Network.

With the popularity of the Internet and the advancement of information technology, more and more people are accepting the teaching and sharing of knowledge through the digitalization of information. The widespread adoption of 5G technology has pushed online learning even further into the mainstream. However, because online teaching does not have the drawback of being intuitive like classroom teaching, teachers' assessments of students' learning situations are less accurate. As a result, how to effectively evaluate students' academic performance in the context of 5G wireless network technology

An artificial intelligence-based platform for automatically estimating time-averaged wall shear stress in the ascending aorta.

AIMS: Aortopathies are a series of disorders requiring multiple indicators to assess risk. Time-averaged wall shear stress (TAWSS) is currently considered as the primary indicator of aortopathies progression, which can only be calculated by Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). However, CFD's complexity and high computational cost, greatly limit its application. The study aimed to construct a deep learning platform which could accurately estimate TAWSS in ascending aorta. METHODS AND RESULTS: A total of 154 patients who had thoracic computed tomography angiography were included and randomly div

Psychological distress, rumination and problematic smartphone use among Spanish adolescents: An emotional intelligence-based conditional process analysis.

BACKGROUND: Problematic smartphone use (PSU) is a public health issue that is currently rising among adolescents. The Compensatory Internet Use Theory (CIUT) poses that difficulties in handling negative life circumstances could result in PSU. Furthermore, the Interaction of Person-Affect-Cognition-Execution (I-PACE) model suggests that the interaction between core characteristics and affective and cognitive responses could lead to PSU. The present study aimed to clarify the links between psychological distress and PSU by exploring rumination as a mediator and emotional intelligence (EI) as a m

A new resource on artificial intelligence powered computer automated detection software products for tuberculosis programmes and implementers.

Recently, the number of artificial intelligence powered computer-aided detection (CAD) products that detect tuberculosis (TB)-related abnormalities from chest X-rays (CXR) available on the market has increased. Although CXR is a relatively effective and inexpensive method for TB screening and triaging, a shortage of skilled radiologists in many high TB-burden countries limits its use. CAD technology offers a solution to this problem. Before adopting a CAD product, TB programmes need to consider not only the diagnostic accuracy but also implementation-relevant features including operational cha
