Classification of pediatric dental diseases from panoramic radiographs using natural language transformer and deep learning models.

INTRODUCTION: Accurate classification of pediatric dental diseases from panoramic radiographs is essential for early diagnosis and effective treatment planning. While deep learning models traditionally operate directly on image data, text-based representations generated from radiographs may provide an alternative strategy for disease classification. METHODS: This study proposed a text-driven framework in which a natural language transformer was used to generate structured textual descriptions from panoramic radiographs. These descriptions were subsequently classified for binary disease detect

Improving cardiovascular risk prediction in metabolic liver disease with a novel biomarker-enhanced model.

AIM: Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), and its more severe form, Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis (MASH), pose significant global health challenges. Conventional cardiovascular risk models, such as the ASCVD Risk Estimator Plus, are limited in accurately predicting CVD risk in MASLD/MASH patients. This study aims to enhance the predictive accuracy of cardiovascular events in MASLD/MASH patients by developing a novel regression model, the LIVER-ASCVD+ model, which integrates traditional cardiovascular risk factors with liver biomarkers. METHODS:

Multimodal deep learning neuroimaging approach to enhance CT-based diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.

Neuroimaging plays a critical role in the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD), with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) providing detailed structural and functional information for deep learning (DL) based classification. However, their high cost and limited availability restrict widespread clinical use. Computed Tomography (CT), while affordable and widely accessible, is diagnostically insufficient for detecting subtle neurodegenerative changes associated with early AD. To address this limitation, this study proposes a multimodal DL framework that enhance

Gradedness of gist perception with scenes depends on concurrent task load: awareness under high load is more graded due to noise suppression.

There is growing evidence that the visual awareness of objects is graded. However, it is unclear whether scene perception is graded and whether attention modulates that gradedness. We addressed these questions in two experiments in which participants identified scenes as indoor or outdoor. Attention was manipulated using a concurrent perceptual load (low or high) task. Scene contrast (Experiment 1) and noise added to scenes (Experiment 2) were manipulated in the study. Participants made a four-point perceptual awareness scale (PAS) rating following the scene judgment. The data on the accuracy

Cracking the Code: Genotype-Phenotype Correlation Models in Sarcoglycanopathies.

OBJECTIVE: Sarcoglycanopathies are among the most severe limb-girdle muscular dystrophies (LGMD), though milder presentations have been described. These diseases are primarily caused by missense variants, but the limited predictability of their effect on protein maturation, complex formation, and transport has hindered reliable genotype-phenotype correlations. This study aimed to establish accurate genotype-phenotype correlations for LGMDR3, LGMDR4, and LGMDR5. METHODS: We analyzed the largest sarcoglycanopathy cohort to date (n = 541). Clinical data, including age at symptom onset and loss o

Murray law-based quantitative flow ratio for functional assessment of coronary lesions: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Angiography-derived coronary physiology has emerged as an attractive alternative to pressure-wire-based fractional flow reserve (FFR) for functional lesion assessment. Murray law-based quantitative flow ratio (µQFR) represents a simplified, single-view approach, but its diagnostic performance across diverse clinical settings remains incompletely defined. To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of µQFR for identifying functionally significant coronary lesions using invasive FFR as the reference standard. We performed a systematic review and diagnostic accuracy meta-analysis in accordance with PRISM

Deconvolution approaches for energy-preserving spatiotemporal cavitation dosimetry using passive acoustic mapping.

The ability to quantify and compare different cavitational treatments is essential given their accelerating clinical adoption. Passive acoustic mapping (PAM) can reconstruct quantitative maps of cavitational radiated energy density (CRED) in real time, providing a powerful platform for cavitation dosimetry. However, significant imaging artefacts caused by a large and variable point spread function (PSF) limit the spatial resolvability of PAM-derived cavitation doses. The Lucy-Richardson deconvolution (LRD) can significantly reduce imaging artefacts, correct for gross overestimates of CRED valu

Benchmarking Synolitic Graphs for Autism Classification from Multisite Resting-State fMRI.

Background/Objectives: Synolitic graphs (SGs) were developed for task-based fMRI, where edge weights encode the discriminative power of pairwise regional features; whether similar information can be recovered from resting-state data was untested. We benchmarked SGs for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) classification using the multisite ABIDE-I dataset (871 subjects: 403 subjects with ASD, 468 typical controls; 17 sites; CC200 atlas). Methods: Using 5-fold cross-validation with 10 repeats and balanced accuracy as the primary metric, we compared SGs with eight baselines including correlation matri

Physics-guided estimation of freight vehicle loading status using digital tachograph data.

Accurately distinguishing between empty and loaded freight vehicle operations is essential for improving logistics efficiency, reducing environmental impacts, and supporting evidence-based freight and infrastructure policies. In Korea, where empty running accounts for over 40% of truck trips, reliable load-status information can enable demand-driven routing, enhance freight origin–destination (OD) estimation, strengthen overloading enforcement, and optimize road maintenance strategies. This study proposes a scalable framework for load-status estimation using Digital Tachograph (DTG) data, a le
