Alice in wonderland syndrome: Down the rabbit hole of VigiBase®.

Alice in Wonderland Syndrome (AIWS) is a neurological disorder involving visual and perceptual distortions, such as altered size perception, sensations of levitation, and time distortion. Initially linked to migraines and epileptic seizures, AIWS has been associated later with tumors, infections, and both illicit and prescribed drugs. This study explores drug-related AIWS cases in the WHO global pharmacovigilance database, VigiBase®, with a focus on age-specific patterns. We queried VigiBase® for AIWS reports until December 15, 2024 and categorized them into pediatric and adult groups. Disprop

Use of Prophylaxis for Deep Venous Thrombosis and Pulmonary Embolism in Isolated Foot and Ankle Trauma.

BACKGROUND: Deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) are relatively rare after foot and ankle surgery, especially after trauma. Diagnosing DVT is difficult, and even when it is discovered it does not necessarily clinically manifest on, for example, duplex ultrasound. Thus, it is often recommended that prophylaxis use be assessed on a case-by-case basis based on risk profile rather than being uniformly given or not prescribed. METHODS: We searched the National Trauma Data Bank Trauma Quality Programs Participant Use File for patients experiencing foot and ankle trauma from 2013
