Comparison of ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek responses to questions on medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ): a comparative analysis of expert-rated clinical quality, readability, response time, and clinical safety risk.

BACKGROUND: Medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is a clinically significant complication associated with antiresorptive and antiangiogenic therapies, and its prevention and management depend on reliable, guideline-concordant information. Large language models (LLMs) are increasingly used to generate medical information, but their performance in MRONJ remains insufficiently investigated. This study compared the responses generated by ChatGPT- 5.4 Thinking, Gemini 3 Deep Think, and DeepSeek-V3.2 in thinking mode to MRONJ-related open-ended questions in terms of clinical quality,

A review of SaiLuoTong (MLC-SLT) development in vascular cognitive impairment and dementia.

The dementia epidemic, attributed to aging populations, represents a growing socio-economic burden. It is estimated that in 2019 about 55 million people worldwide were living with dementia. With many possible causes of dementia and the possibility of mixed dementia combining Alzheimer's disease (AD) and vascular dementia the question is whether diagnostic uncertainty exists or whether diagnostic constructs based on single etiologies are incorrect. Vascular Cognitive Impairment and Dementia (VCID) designates the extent of cognitive dysfunctions from the most benign state to that of dementia, of

Revealing the Roles of Part-of-Speech Taggers in Alzheimer Disease Detection: Scientific Discovery Using One-Intervention Causal Explanation.

BACKGROUND: Recently, rich computational methods that use deep learning or machine learning have been developed using linguistic biomarkers for the diagnosis of early-stage Alzheimer disease (AD). Moreover, some qualitative and quantitative studies have indicated that certain part-of-speech (PoS) features or tags could be good indicators of AD. However, there has not been a systematic attempt to discover the underlying relationships between PoS features and AD. Moreover, there has not been any attempt to quantify the relative importance of PoS features in detecting AD. OBJECTIVE: Our goal was

[Psychometric characteristics of questionnaires designed to assess the knowledge, perceptions and practices of health care professionals with regards to alcoholic patients].

UNLABELLED: Failure of the French health care services to diagnose and manage problem drinkers has been established on many occasions. This results from a relative lack of knowledge of the basics of alcoholism and the low level of involvement of health care professionals in the management of these patients. In response to this inadequacy, the French Public Health Ministry promoted the development of managed care and coordination of care for these patients. Teams in charge of coordinating care for problem drinkers have been implanted in 96 French hospitals since 1996. These teams aim to provide

Long-term evaluation of a web-based quality control management system (QATrack+) in diagnostic radiology.

INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND: Routine quality control (QC) in diagnostic radiology is essential for maintaining image quality, supporting dose optimization, and ensuring equipment reliability. However, QC documentation is often fragmented across spreadsheets, paper logs, and vendor-generated files, limiting traceability and audit readiness. QATrack+, an open-source web-based QA/QC management platform, offers a centralized and structured approach to QC governance. This study evaluated the long-term feasibility and sustainability of QATrack+ as a centralized, traceable platform for routine QC managem

Health Care Use and Recurrence Rate in Hemolytic Disease of the Fetus and Newborn: Retrospective Cohort Study.

BACKGROUND: Hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) is a life-threatening condition resulting from maternal-fetal erythrocyte antigen incompatibility. Although anti-Rhesus D (RhD) prophylaxis has reduced RhD-associated cases, HDFN persists due to non-RhD antibodies and gaps in prevention. Population-based data on maternal and neonatal outcomes and recurrence patterns are limited. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to characterize maternal and neonatal outcomes, health care use patterns, and recurrence rates of HDFN across pregnancies. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort study of

The Performance of Large Language Models in Extracting Intestinal Symptoms From Electronic Health Records: Retrospective Observational Study.

BACKGROUND: Unstructured electronic health records (EHRs) hinder the monitoring of intestinal infections. Large language models (LLMs) enable automated symptom extraction. However, their clinical validation is limited by a lack of systematic multimodel comparisons, unclear prompting strategies, and the privacy risks of cloud-based models (eg, data leakage and cross-border data transfer). OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to systematically evaluate the performance of locally deployed open-source LLMs across 4 model families in extracting intestinal symptoms from unstructured EHR chief complaints und

An External Validation Study on Two Pre-Trained Large Language Models for Multimodal Prognostication in Laryngeal and Hypopharyngeal Cancer: Integrating Clinical, Treatment, and Radiomic Data to Predict Survival Outcomes with Interpretable Reasoning.

Background: Laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancers (LHCs) exhibit heterogeneous outcomes after definitive radiotherapy (RT). Large language models (LLMs) may enhance prognostic stratification by integrating complex clinical and imaging data. This study validated two pre-trained LLMs-GPT-4o-2024-08-06 and Gemma-2-27b-it-for outcome prediction in LHC. Methods: Ninety-two patients with non-metastatic LHC treated with definitive (chemo)radiotherapy at Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (2006-2013) were retrospectively analyzed. Evaluating the impact of an AI-powered chatbot on epilepsy education and stigma reduction: A pre-post intervention study using EpiloBot.

OBJECTIVE: Effective epilepsy management requires accurate epilepsy knowledge, active patient engagement, and stigma reduction to improve health outcomes. Educational interventions have been shown to enhance patients' quality of life (QOL) and knowledge. This study evaluated the effectiveness of EpiloBot, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered chatbot designed to provide epilepsy education and psychosocial support, through a pre-post intervention study measuring changes in knowledge, attitudes, and self-stigma among people with epilepsy (PWE) and their supporters (including caregivers, family

Adrenocortical carcinoma during pregnancy.

INTRODUCTION: Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare malignant neoplasm. Hypercortisolism and inhibition of gonadotropin secretion usually result in menstrual disorders and secondary amenorrhea. The coincidence of ACC and pregnancy is therefore extremely rare. The signs of hypercortisolism are commonly seen in otherwise healthy pregnancies, which decreases the doctor's vigilance. We present the diagnostic challenges and current treatment recommendations according to European guidelines from the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) and European Network for the Study of Adrenal Tumors (ENS@

Digital Clock and Recall is superior to the Mini-Mental State Examination for the detection of mild cognitive impairment and mild dementia.

BACKGROUND: Disease-modifying treatments for Alzheimer's disease highlight the need for early detection of cognitive decline. However, at present, most primary care providers do not perform routine cognitive testing, in part due to a lack of access to practical cognitive assessments, as well as time and resources to administer and interpret the tests. Brief and sensitive digital cognitive assessments, such as the Digital Clock and Recall (DCR™), have the potential to address this need. Here, we examine the advantages of DCR over the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) in detecting mild cognit

Training on Movement Figure-Ground Discrimination Remediates Low-Level Visual Timing Deficits in the Dorsal Stream, Improving High-Level Cognitive Functioning, Including Attention, Reading Fluency, and Working Memory.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether neurotraining to discriminate a moving test pattern relative to a stationary background, figure-ground discrimination, improves vision and cognitive functioning in dyslexics, as well as typically-developing normal students. We predict that improving the speed and sensitivity of figure-ground movement discrimination (PATH to Reading neurotraining) acts to remediate visual timing deficits in the dorsal stream, thereby improving processing speed, reading fluency, and the executive control functions of attention and working memory in both dyslexic

Teams perform worse when newcomers hold critical information than when original group members do.

In this study, two new acquaintances joined an online chatroom, spent five minutes discussing the qualities of a job candidate, then a newcomer joined the chat. The three group members (Ntriads = 370; Nparticipants = 1110) engaged in the Hidden Profile Task during which they chose the best job candidate among four to hire. Before they began, all group members received common information and one group member-either one of the initial members or the newcomer-received critical, unshared information about one candidate that the team needed to make the correct decision. Teams in which the newcomer
