PURPOSE: Clinical stage I (CSI) testicular germ cell tumors (TGCT) represents disease confined to the testis without metastasis and CSIS is defined as persistently elevated tumor markers (TM) after orchiectomy, indicating subclinical metastatic disease. This study aims at assessing clinical characteristics and oncological outcome in CSIS.

RATIONALE: Currently, the 5-year survival rate remains poor for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC), and the purpose of therapy is to prolong survival while maintaining the quality of life. Trifluridine/tipiracil, an oral drug combining trifluorothymidine and a thymidine phosphorylase inhibitor, is indicated as salvage therapy for mCRC patients who have progressed after all available regimens. Combination of local treatments with systemic therapy such as trifluridine/tipiracil represents an apt management strategy for mCRC patients.

Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare, clinically aggressive primary cutaneous neuroendocrine carcinoma. The present series describes clinicopathological features of 16 MCCs diagnosed at a tertiary cancer referral center. Laparoscopy is increasingly used by gynaecologists for the investigation of adnexal masses. Uncertainty exists whether ovarian tumours of low malignant potential can effectively be treated by laparoscopy, whether staging bears a benefit for all patients, whether port-site metastases are a problem and how long patients need to be followed up after surgery. This review summarises the evidence to address these important questions.

Gestational trophoblastic diseases comprise a rare spectrum of disorders in which the normal regulatory mechanisms controlling the behavior of trophoblastic tissue are lost. They vary from the benign complete and partial hydatidiform moles to the frankly malignant choriocarcinoma and placental site trophoblastic tumors.
