Right Atrial Rupture on CT Angiography in a Patient Receiving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation: A Case Report.

Cardiac rupture is a rare but fatal complication among patients undergoing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Myocardial rupture can manifest as a discontinuity in the myocardial wall, communication between the ventricle or atrium and the pericardium, hemopericardium, or active extravasation of contrast into the pericardium. It can also occur alongside pericardial rupture or hemothorax. Diagnosing myocardial rupture via imaging is uncommon due to its clinical urgency and high mortality rate. We present a rare case of a 50-year-old man who developed a right atrial rupture, as seen on CT angio

Radial artery pseudoaneurysm a rare complication after coronary angiography: A case report and systematic review of the reported cases.

This is a case of 83 years old male who had radial artery pseudoaneurysm after cardiac catheterization. The diagnosis was through Doppler ultrasound and the patient was treated with thrombin injection and reported good outcomes. The literature also included 41 cases of pseudoaneurysm after catheterization. The mean age of patients was 68.5 years with a male prevalence of 49%. Onset of pseudoaneurysm ranged from 0 days (directly after the catheterization) to 150 days with a median of 5 days. The treatment of patients was mainly surgical (19 cases) followed by compression (either manual or TR ba

Single center experience in localization of insulinoma by selective intraarterial calcium stimulation angiography - a case series of 15 years.

BACKGROUND: Insulinomas are rare insulin-secreting neuroendocrine neoplasms of the pancreas. First-line treatment is the surgical removal of the tumor, however, the localization with standard imaging techniques is often challenging. With the help of selective intraarterial calcium stimulation the insulinoma's localization can be narrowed down to one third of the pancreas which the selected artery supplies. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to prove the usefulness of the calcium stimulation test in case of 9 patients treated between 2006 and 2021 diagnosed with endogenous hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia confi

Association between Arterial Stiffness, Carbamylation, and Mortality in Patients Undergoing Coronary Angiography with No or Mild Chronic Kidney Disease.

INTRODUCTION: The processes of atherosclerosis, inflammation, and carbamylation are closely linked in cardiovascular (CV) disease, but the potential of carbamylation burden as a CV mortality predictor is unclear, especially in patients with no or mild chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study aimed to investigate whether elevated carbamylated albumin (C-Alb), as a surrogate marker for carbamylation burden, is associated with mortality and arterial stiffness/atherosclerotic burden in patients with no or mild CKD, using pulse pressure (PP) as a marker for arterial stiffness. METHODS: We measured

The use of optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography in borderline personality disorder compared to health control subjects.

BACKGROUND: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) or OCT angiography (OCTA) has been investigated in few research studies of psychiatric disorders. No research has been done using OCT or OCTA in patients with borderline personality disorder (BPD). METHODS: OCTA measured foveal avascular zone (FAZ), macular vessel density (MVD), and peripapillary vessel density (PVD). OCT measured the peripapillary retinal fiber layer (RNFL) and central retinal thickness (CRT). The study utilized the Ottawa Self-Injury Inventory, Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA), and Global Assessment of Functioning (GAF) to

Comparison of Ultra-High-Resolution and Normal-Resolution CT-Angiography for Intracranial Aneurysm Detection in Patients with Subarachnoid Hemorrhage.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: Ruptured intracranial aneurysms (IAs) are the leading cause for atraumatic subarachnoid hemorrhage. In case of aneurysm rupture, patients may face life-threatening complications and require aneurysm occlusion. Detection of the aneurysm in computed tomography (CT) imaging is therefore essential for patient outcome. This study provides an evaluation of the diagnostic accuracy of Ultra-High-Resolution Computed Tomography Angiography (UHR-CTA) and Normal-Resolution Computed Tomography Angiography (NR-CTA) concerning IA detection and characterization. MATERIALS AND METHOD

Intracoronary imaging in addition to coronary angiography for patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: More information for better care?

About 70% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests are related to an ischaemic heart disease in Western countries. Percutaneous coronary intervention has been shown to improve the prognosis of survivors when an unstable coronary lesion is identified as the potential cause of the cardiac arrest. Acute complete coronary occlusion is often demonstrated among patients with ST-segment elevation on electrocardiogram after the return of spontaneous circulation. In patients without ST-segment elevation, routine coronary angiography has been shown to be not superior to conservative management. However, an el

Evaluation of Feasibility of Medial Plantar Artery Flap With Computed Tomography Angiography in Diabetic Patients: A Pilot Radioanatomic Study.

Background A soft tissue defect resulting from a diabetic heel ulcer can be difficult to address due to limited reconstructive options and unique local area demand. The medial plantar artery flap is ideal for heel defect coverage as it provides a thick glabrous skin with good sensory feedback. The prerequisite of medial plantar artery flap surgery is a patent medial plantar artery, which is a branch of the posterior tibial artery (PTA). Nevertheless, no feasibility study of the medial plantar artery flap in diabetic patients with vascular insufficiency has been reported so far. We conducted a

The correlation of retinal neurodegeneration and brain degeneration in patients with Alzheimer's disease using optical coherence tomography angiography and MRI.

INTRODUCTION: Pathological changes in Alzheimer's disease can cause retina and optic nerve degeneration. The retinal changes are correlated with cognitive function. This study aimed to explore the relationship of retinal differences with neuroimaging in patients with Alzheimer's disease, analyze the association of cognitive function with retinal structure and vascular density, and identify potential additional biomarkers for early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. METHOD: We performed magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans and neuropsychological assessments in 28 patients with mild Alzheimer'

Evaluating the length, diameter, and stenosis of deep circumflex iliac artery and neighboring arteries based on digital subtraction angiography.

BACKGROUND: The vascularized iliac bone crest flap offers excellent usable bone in terms of volume and quality. Its nourishing vessel, the deep circumflex iliac artery (DCIA), although relatively short, is reliable vessel. Digital subtraction angiography presents still the gold standard for diagnostic purpose. However, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) angiography is used for preoperative planning with low morbidity. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the gainable information using digital subtraction angiography (DSA) as compared to other imaging modalities.

Evaluation of stable angina by coronary computed tomographic angiography versus standard of care: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

INTRODUCTION: There is limited data comparing Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography (CCTA) versus the usual Standard of care (SOC) in patients with suspected stable coronary artery disease (CAD). We aimed to perform a systematic review and meta-analysis to compare CCTA versus SOC in patients with stable CAD. METHODS: We searched multiple databases for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing CCTA with SOC, which included various functional testing approaches for evaluating stable CAD. We used a random-effects model to calculate risk ratios (RRs) with 95 % confidence intervals (CIs). O
