Knowledge about metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease among the medical professionals from countries in the MENA region.

INTRODUCTION AND OBJECTIVES: Given the substantial burden of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), there is an urgent need to assess knowledge and awareness levels among physicians. We assessed MASLD knowledge among healthcare providers from Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Türkiye. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Two global surveys containing 54-59 items assessed awareness and knowledge of MASLD/NAFLD- one was for hepatologists and gastroenterologists, and the second was for non-specialists (e.g. endocrinologists, primary care providers [PCPs], and other healthcare professionals).

What internet- and mobile-based interventions are currently available for adults with overweight or obesity experiencing symptoms of depression? A systematic review.

Given the high prevalence of overweight and obesity and high comorbidity of depressive symptoms, there is a need for low-threshold, accessible care approaches for people with overweight/obesity aimed at improving mental health. Internet and mobile-based interventions (IMI) represent an innovative complementary treatment option. This review systematically searches for IMI aimed at improving mental health in people with overweight/obesity. We conducted a systematic literature search according to the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) criteria in the datab

Fertility knowledge, childbearing intentions and attitudes towards social egg freezing: A study of female students of a private university in Kumasi, Ghana.

BACKGROUND: As women increasingly delay childbearing for educational and career pursuits, understanding the age-related decline in ovarian reserve becomes crucial to avoid infertility. Egg freezing offers a solution, extending the window for achieving pregnancy with a biological child. However, awareness and acceptance of age-related fertility decline and elective egg freezing vary across countries and social groups. METHODS: This descriptive cross-sectional study investigates fertility awareness, childbearing intentions, and attitudes toward elective egg freezing among 138 undergraduate fema

Views and experiences of eating disorders treatments in East Asia: a meta-synthesis.

INTRODUCTION: Although there have been qualitative meta-syntheses on experiences of eating disorders treatments, there is a paucity of syntheses specifically examining the perspectives and experiences of eating disorders treatments (ED) in East Asia (EA). Such synthesis could facilitate a better understanding of culture-specific perspectives and experiences. This review complements a quantitative scoping review published on ED treatments in EA (Yim & Schmidt, 2023), where most interventions reviewed focused on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and internet interventions. The present meta-syn

Approach to a spontaneously ruptured posterior polar cataract.

A 61-year-old man presented with gradual blurring of vision and glare in both eyes for a couple of years, with worsening of the vision in his right eye over the past 2 months. He had no medical history of note. On clinical examination, his visual acuities were 20/80 in the right eye and 20/30 in the left eye, uncorrected. The cornea was clear, and the anterior chamber (AC) was deep in both eyes. He had bilateral mild nuclear sclerosis with round central onion-ring-like posterior opacities. The opacities measured approximately 2 mm in diameter and were marginally larger in the right eye than in

Who benefits from which activity? On the relations between personality traits, leisure activities, and well-being.

Leisure activities have been emphasized as an important predictor of well-being. However, little research has examined the effects of leisure activity enactment on well-being over time. Moreover, it is unknown which activities are most beneficial for whom. We integrate diverse theoretical accounts of person-environment relations and propose a generic Personality-Activity-Well-Being (PAW) framework, which highlights different relations between personality traits, activities, and well-being. To investigate these relations, we used 11 annual waves from the Longitudinal Internet Studies for the So

Additional value of volumetric and texture analysis on FDG PET assessment in paediatric Hodgkin lymphoma: an Italian multicentric study protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Assessment of response to therapy in paediatric patients with Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) by 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/CT has become a powerful tool for the discrimination of responders from non-responders. The addition of volumetric and texture analyses can be regarded as a valuable help for disease prognostication and biological characterisation. Based on these premises, the Hodgkin Lymphoma Study Group of the Associazione Italiana Ematologia Oncologia Pediatrica (AIEOP) has designed a prospective evaluation of volumetric and texture analysis in the Italian

Social Jetlag Changes During the COVID-19 Pandemic as a Predictor of Insomnia - A Multi-National Survey Study.

PURPOSE: Lifestyle and work habits have been drastically altered by restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether the associated changes in sleep timing modulate the risk of suffering from symptoms of insomnia, the most prevalent sleep disorder, is however incompletely understood. Here, we evaluate the association between the early pandemic-associated change in 1) the magnitude of social jetlag (SJL) - ie, the difference between sleep timing on working vs free days - and 2) symptoms of insomnia. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 14,968 anonymous participants (mean age: 40 years; 64% femal
