AIM: Surgery is the mainstay of treatment for rectovaginal fistula (RVF). Published success rates vary with initial success being around 50% rising to 80% with repeated surgery. Fistulae in Crohn's disease are more likely to recur.
METHOD: A retrospective study was performed of RVF repair carried out between 2003 and 2008 in a tertiary referral centre. Patients undergoing surgery for an RVF under the senior author during the study period were identified and their clinical notes were reviewed.

The specialized tightly controlled microcirculation of craniofacial neurosensory organs is an essential evolutionary adaptation and yet a dilemma where angiogenic remodeling occurs. Despite extreme plasticity of neurosensory structures, the capacity to reconcile barrier phenotype of the microcirculation with an angiogenic cascade is not known. Here we provide primary evidence for such a response in an elemental neurosensory structure, human dental pulp, following chronic carious insult. This report presents 2 cases in which puppy fatalities were associated with canine coronavirus (CCV), but no evidence of concurrent canine parvovirus (CPV-2) disease was observed. Case 1 involved a 7-week-old, male short-haired Chihuahua, which had become lethargic 24 hours after purchase from a pet store.
