Deep-learning-enabled single-shot fringe projection profilometry based on inner shifting-phase encoding.

Single-shot fringe projection profilometry (FPP) offers significant advantages for dynamic three-dimensional (3D) measurement. However, existing deep learning-based single-shot methods still struggle to simultaneously and accurately extract the wrapped phase and fringe order. Because the former is a continuous physical quantity while the latter is a discrete integer label, their joint estimation from a single periodic pattern is inherently ambiguous, especially for isolated objects lacking spatial continuity. To address this problem, a deep learning-enabled single-shot FPP method is proposed b

Iterative Residual Optimization Network for Limited-Angle Tomographic Reconstruction.

Limited-angle tomographic reconstruction is one of the typical ill-posed inverse problems, leading to edge divergence with degraded image quality. Recently, deep learning has been introduced into image reconstruction and achieved great results. However, existing deep reconstruction methods have not fully explored data consistency, resulting in poor performance. In addition, deep reconstruction methods are still mathematically inexplicable and unstable. In this work, we propose an iterative residual optimization network (IRON) for limited-angle tomographic reconstruction. First, a new optimizat

Advanced hybrid attention-based deep learning network with heuristic algorithm for adaptive CT and PET image fusion in lung cancer detection.

Lung cancer is one of the most deadly diseases in the world. Lung cancer detection can save the patient's life. Despite being the best imaging tool in the medical sector, clinicians find it challenging to interpret and detect cancer from Computed Tomography (CT) scan data. One of the most effective ways for the diagnosis of certain malignancies like lung tumours is Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging. So many diagnosis models have been implemented nowadays to diagnose various diseases. Early lung cancer identification is very important for predicting the severity level of lung cancer in

Using a New Deep Learning Method for 3D Cephalometry in Patients With Hemifacial Microsomia.

Deep learning algorithms based on automatic 3D cephalometric marking points about people without craniomaxillofacial deformities have achieved good results. However, there has been no previous report about hemifacial microsomia (HFM). The purpose of this study is to apply a new deep learning method based on a 3D point cloud graph convolutional neural network to predict and locate landmarks in patients with HFM based on the relationships between points. The authors used a PointNet++ model to investigate the automatic 3D cephalometry. And the mean distance error (MDE) of the center coordinate po

Automatic detection of arrhythmias from an ECG signal using an auto-encoder and SVM classifier.

Millions of people around the world are affected by arrhythmias, which are abnormal activities of the functioning of the heart. Most arrhythmias are harmful to the heart and can suddenly become life-threatening. The electrocardiogram (ECG) is an important non-invasive tool in cardiology for the diagnosis of arrhythmias. This work proposes a computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) system to automatically classify different types of arrhythmias from ECG signals. First, the auto-encoder convolutional network (ACN) model is used, which is based on a one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) tha

Multiple instance learning detects peripheral arterial disease from high-resolution color fundus photography.

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is caused by atherosclerosis and is a common disease of the elderly leading to excess morbidity and mortality. Early PAD diagnosis is important, as the only available causal therapy is addressing risk factors like smoking, hypercholesterolemia or hypertension. However, current diagnostic techniques often do not detect early stages of PAD. We theorize that PAD's underlying cause atherosclerosis can be detected on color fundus photography (CFP) images with a convolutional neural network architecture, which might aid earlier PAD diagnosis and improve disease moni

Altered neural encoding of prediction errors in assault-related posttraumatic stress disorder.

Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is widely associated with deficits in extinguishing learned fear responses, which relies on mechanisms of reinforcement learning (e.g., updating expectations based on prediction errors). However, the degree to which PTSD is associated with impairments in general reinforcement learning (i.e., outside of the context of fear stimuli) remains poorly understood. Here, we investigate brain and behavioral differences in general reinforcement learning between adult women with and without a current diagnosis of PTSD. 29 adult females (15 PTSD with exposure to assaul

CT-Based Radiomic Signatures Associated with Serum CEA Status in Colon Cancer.

Background/Objectives: Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is widely used in colon cancer management; however, its diagnostic and prognostic accuracy is limited by biological variability, as well as false-positive or false-negative results. Radiomics provides quantitative descriptors of tumor heterogeneity and offers objective assessment of tumor characteristics. This study aimed to evaluate the potential of computed tomography (CT)-based radiomic features to distinguish between CEA-positive and CEA-negative colon cancer patients. Methods: In this retrospective study, 150 patients with histopatholo

Enhancing accessibility for improved diagnosis with modified EfficientNetV2-S and cyclic learning rate strategy in women with disabilities and breast cancer.

Breast cancer, a prevalent cancer among women worldwide, necessitates precise and prompt detection for successful treatment. While conventional histopathological examination is the benchmark, it is a lengthy process and prone to variations among different observers. Employing machine learning to automate the diagnosis of breast cancer presents a viable option, striving to improve both precision and speed. Previous studies have primarily focused on applying various machine learning and deep learning models for the classification of breast cancer images. These methodologies leverage convolutiona

Selectivity-aware dual-target cholinesterase optimization using a novel model SPaR-GNN.

We developed SPaR-GNN (Selectivity Pair-aware Ranking Graph Neural Network), a multitask molecular learning framework for dual-target cholinesterase optimization. SPaR-GNN jointly predicts acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity, butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) activity, and molecular selectivity while incorporating explicit pair-aware supervision from structurally similar analogs and selectivity-cliff pairs. In addition, we integrated SPaR-GNN into a goal-driven molecular optimization workflow for candidate generation and prioritization. Experimental results showed that SPaR-GNN performed satisfac

Machine learning enabled molecular dynamics-Monte Carlo framework for nanoconfined fluid adsorption.

Nanoconfined fluid is central to many engineering applications such as shale energy production, carbon sequestration, and molecular separations. While classical molecular dynamics (MD) simulation provides essential atomistic detail, its prohibitive computational cost severely limits accessible time and length scales. Hybrid MD-Monte Carlo (MDMC) methods accelerate sampling but lack generality beyond their trained conditions. In this work, we introduce an AI-assisted MDMC framework that overcomes this limitation by learning local, conditional transition statistics directly from MD trajectories.

Molecular absorption and fluorescence property prediction via a multimodal consensus model: Winning solution for the Transmittance category of the 2nd EUOS/SLAS Joint Challenge.

The 2nd EUOS/SLAS Joint Challenge was a competition aimed at developing reliable computational models for predicting transmittance and fluorescence properties from the chemical structures of approximately 100,000 compounds. This paper describes the method that achieved 1st place in the blind test of the Transmittance category. Our approach is based on a consensus strategy that integrates diverse predictions from multiple model types, including gradient boosting decision trees, message passing neural networks (MPNNs), and Uni-Mol2, via a weighted ensemble, covering multimodal molecular represen

HNRM: hyperedge neighborhood-based representation for predicting N6-methyladenosine-related regulatory pathways.

BACKGROUND: N6-methyladenosine (m6A), the most predominant post-transcriptional RNA modification, regulates splicing, translation, and decay processes. Its dysregulation is implicated in cancers, metabolic disorders, and neurological diseases. Despite accumulating evidence highlighting m6A as a key player in human pathologies, no previous computational framework has investigated the high-order associations among m6A sites, diseases, and drugs within a unified model. RESULTS: Here, we introduce HNRM, a data-driven approach designed to model hyperedges across these entities. We frame this probl

Joint Trajectory Replanning for Mars Ascent Vehicle Under Propulsion System Faults: A Suboptimal Learning-Based Warm-Start Approach.

This article presents a suboptimal joint trajectory replanning (SJTR) method for Mars ascent vehicle (MAV) launch missions under propulsion system faults. Conventional step-by-step trajectory replanning may fail to make timely decisions, risking mission failure. The SJTR method formulates a joint convex optimization problem of target orbit and flight trajectory after a fault. By applying penalty coefficients for terminal constraints, it adheres to the orbit redecision principles, enabling a concise and rapid solution. To further enhance the convergence and the accuracy of orbit-type determinat
