'They all stay with me'-An interpretive phenomenological analysis on nurses' experiences resuscitating children in community hospital emergency departments.

AIM: To understand the lived experiences of nurses resuscitating children in community hospital emergency departments. BACKGROUND: Emergency department nurses exposed to paediatric resuscitations are at a high risk of developing post-traumatic stress. This may be especially true in community hospital emergency departments, where nurses have less exposure to, knowledge about, and resources for managing these events. Interventions to proactively prevent nurse trauma in these contexts remain largely uninvestigated. To inform such interventions, a detailed understanding of the largely unknown liv

The Traumatic Experience of Clinical Nurses During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Which Factors are Related to Post-Traumatic Growth?

Down syndrome (DS) phenotypes result from triplicated genes, but the effects of three copy genes are not well known. A mouse mapping panel genetically dissecting human chromosome 21 (Hsa21) syntenic regions was used to investigate the contributions and interactions of triplicated Hsa21 orthologous genes on mouse chromosome 16 (Mmu16) on skeletal phenotypes. Skeletal structure and mechanical properties were assessed in femurs of male and female Dp9Tyb, Dp2Tyb, Dp3Tyb, Dp4Tyb, Dp5Tyb, Dp6Tyb, Ts1Rhr and Dp1Tyb;Dyrk1a+/+/- mice. Novice nurses' sleep disturbance trajectories within the first 2 years of work and actual turnover: A prospective longitudinal study.

BACKGROUND: Novice nurses experience radical changes in their sleep-wake cycle and sleep difficulties after exposure to a rotating shift work schedule. The link between workplace hardship and employee turnover may be dependent on factors at the individual level, e.g., individual health. Nurses with sleep disturbance are more vulnerable to stressful stimuli and lack resilience at work compared with those without sleep disturbance. OBJECTIVES: To classify novice nurses according to sleep disturbance trajectories during the first 2 years of work, to compare turnover rates according to trajectory

The Intervention Nurses Start Infants Growing on Healthy Trajectories (INSIGHT) responsive parenting intervention for firstborns impacts feeding of secondborns.

BACKGROUND: The Intervention Nurses Start Infant Growing on Healthy Trajectories (INSIGHT) study's responsive parenting (RP) intervention, initiated in early infancy, prevented the use of nonresponsive, controlling feeding practices and promoted use of structure-based feeding among first-time parents compared with controls. OBJECTIVES: We sought to examine the spillover effect of the RP intervention on maternal feeding practices with their secondborn (SB) infants enrolled in an observational-only study, SIBSIGHT, and to test the moderating effect of spacing of births. METHODS: SB infants of

A Cross-Sectional Examination of the Factors Related to Emergency Nurses' Motivation to Protect Themselves Against an Ebola Infection.

INTRODUCTION: The 2014-2016 West African Ebola outbreak impacted the United States. Owing to the sporadic occurrence of the Ebola infection, there is insufficient research regarding how US emergency nurses provide care to patients potentially infected with the Ebola virus and the nurses' motivation to protect themselves when providing care to these patients. This study aimed to investigate the predictors of emergency nurses' protection motivation. METHODS: A cross-sectional design was employed. A survey developed based on a modified Protection Motivation Theory was administered to randomly se

Association between high fear-avoidance beliefs about physical activity and chronic disabling low back pain in nurses in Japan.

BACKGROUND: High prevalence of low back pain (LBP) in nurses has been reported globally. Ergonomic factors and work-related psychosocial factors have been focused on as risk factors. However, evidence on the role of fear-avoidance beliefs (FABs) concerning LBP in nurses is lacking. This study examined LBP prevalence and the association between FABs and chronic disabling LBP that interfered with work and lasted ≥ 3 months. METHODS: Female nurses (N = 3066; mean age = 35.8 ± 10.6 years) from 12 hospitals in Japan participated. A self-reported questionnaire was used to collect information on soc
