Large language model responses to structured textual descriptions of salivary gland imaging findings: impact of contextual enrichment on self-reported diagnostic confidence and reporting behavior.

PURPOSE: Large language models (LLMs) are increasingly applied in clinical decision support, yet their behavior when presented with structured textual descriptions of imaging findings, particularly in salivary gland disease, remains poorly defined. The present study was set out to evaluate how the responses of different LLMs change as the textual input is progressively enriched. The models did not receive imaging data; all inputs were text. METHODS: This exploratory, simulation-based observational study assessed 3 LLMs (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude) across 10 salivary gland cases. For each case, a

Risk Visualization With Petal-X and Continuous Glucose Monitoring to Support Person-Centered Care and Lifestyle Change in Cardiovascular Prevention: Qualitative Descriptive Study.

BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. In primary prevention, effective communication of individual risk and support for behavior change are crucial. Interactive risk visualizations can enhance understanding and engagement, while continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) offers immediate feedback on the physiological effects of daily choices. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore how patients at increased CVD risk and family medicine nurses perceive CVD risk visualization (Petal-X) and the integration of real-time glucose monitoring, with a fo

Mechanisms of Engagement With Mobile Health Apps for Adults With Long-Term Conditions: Overview of Systematic Reviews.

BACKGROUND: Engagement is a necessary precondition for the effectiveness of mobile health (mHealth) apps for long-term physical health conditions (LTCs), particularly as health systems increasingly prioritize the deployment of scalable, self-guided digital interventions. Outside controlled research settings, where clinician involvement often drives engagement, little is known about whether, how, and why people engage with mHealth apps based on intrinsic motivation alone. Existing systematic reviews have cataloged behavioral engagement indicators but rarely assess the mechanisms underlying enga

Multimodal Virtual Reality Assessment of Medication Effects in Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder and Its Distinction From Depression: Cross-Sectional Study.

BACKGROUND: Over the past 2 decades, virtual reality-based neuropsychological tasks have gained traction as tools for objectively assessing symptoms of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), offering enhanced ecological validity by simulating naturalistic environments. To complement realistic settings with an ecologically valid task, we recently developed the virtual email sorting task (VEST), which immerses participants into an office environment where they sort emails while being exposed to distractors. OBJECTIVE: This study examined for the first time the VEST's sensitivity to me

Digitally Mediated Occupational Therapy to Increase Physical Activity in Urban and Rural Breast Cancer Survivors: Protocol for a Single-Arm Feasibility Trial.

BACKGROUND: The 5-year survival rate for breast cancer (BC) has increased in recent years. However, functional limitations associated with BC treatment (eg, loss of strength, fatigue, and lymphedema) often have far-reaching effects on survivors' physical and mental health. Aerobic physical activity (PA) and muscle-strengthening exercise (MSE) can reduce functional limitations, and occupational therapy (OT) can support these health-promoting behaviors after treatment. Yet, barriers to access among BC survivors (eg, time burden and distance to the OT clinic) limit participation in OT programing.

Digital Biomarkers for Passive Remote Monitoring of Bipolar Disorder: Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND: Bipolar disorder (BD) features episodic shifts among (hypo)mania, depression, mixed states, and euthymia. Timely detection of mood transitions is difficult due to infrequent clinical touchpoints. Digital health technologies, including wearables and smartphones, offer a unique opportunity to passively and continuously monitor behavior and physiology that could reflect underlying mood dynamics in real-world settings. OBJECTIVE: We aim to systematically review passively collected digital biomarkers for BD mood states, characterize devices/modalities and analytic approaches, appraise

Oral Health and Undernutrition in the Frail Elderly Persons.

INTRODUCTION: Although many studies associate a poor state of oral health with the risk of undernutrition in both the autonomous and dependent elderly, very few of them consider the frail elderly person. However, the identification of the frail elderly is one of major issues of modern geriatrics. It is at this stage that preventive strategies are the most effective against the risks of dependency. The main objective of our study is to explore the nature of the association between oral health and undernutrition in the frail elderly patient, and to identify the associated factors. MATERIALS AND

Using Cluster Analysis to Explore Engagement and e-Attainment as Emergent Behavior in Electronic Mental Health.

BACKGROUND: In most e-mental health (eMH) research to date, adherence is defined according to a trial protocol. However, adherence to a study protocol may not completely capture a key aspect of why participants engage with eMH tools, namely, to achieve personal mental health goals. As a consequence, trial attrition reported as non-adherence or dropout may reflect e-attainment, the discontinuation of eMH engagement after personal goals have been met. Clarifying engagement patterns, such as e-attainment, and how these align with mental health trajectories, may help optimize eMH design and implem

A Transferable Evaluation Framework for Mobile Health Data Collection in Shift-Work Nurses: Development and Feasibility Study.

BACKGROUND: Shift-work nurses experience substantial variability in work schedules, health behaviors, and recovery patterns, which traditional retrospective surveys fail to capture due to recall bias. Although mobile health (mHealth) tools offer ecological momentary data capture, existing off-the-shelf survey platforms lack shift-synchronized notification logic and impose excessive cognitive friction on fatigued clinicians, limiting their applicability in nursing research. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to propose and demonstrate a transferable, dual-perspective evaluation framework for mHealth

Women's Educating and Coping Strategies for Cultivating Supportive Web-Based Spaces for Discussing Sexual and Reproductive Health: Co-Design Study.

BACKGROUND: Stigma surrounding women's sexual and reproductive health (SRH) often prevents them from seeking essential care. In South Korea, unmarried women face strong cultural taboos, increasing their risk for conditions such as pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, and cervical cancer. While many unmarried women turn to web-based communities for support, these spaces frequently expose them to microaggressions, further discouraging their access to health care and worsening their health risks. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to encourage a safe space for seeking support on the culturally taboo topic

The Digital Information Environment of Lung Cancer and Lung Cancer Screening: Protocol for a Cross-Platform Social Media Content Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Lung cancer screening (LCS) with low-dose computed tomography reduces mortality by up to 20%, yet uptake in the United States remains below 6% of eligible individuals. Factors contributing to low uptake include lack of awareness, eligibility confusion, stigma associated with smoking history, and nihilistic beliefs about outcomes. Stigma triggers shame-avoidance behaviors, nihilism undermines perceived screening benefit, and misinformation amplifies both by spreading inaccurate eligibility criteria and exaggerated harms. Social media increasingly shapes how individuals encounter hea

Associations between adverse childhood experiences and obstetrical outcomes in a predominantly Black-identifying and low-income pregnant population.

BACKGROUND: Recent literature indicates that adverse childhood experiences have been associated with poor obstetrical outcomes, including pregnancy loss, preterm birth, and low birthweight. Several studies have been conducted in primarily self-identified White individuals who report middle to high income levels. Less is known about the impact of adverse childhood experiences on obstetrical outcomes in minority-identifying and low-income populations, who are known to experience a greater number of adverse childhood experiences and are at higher risk of maternal morbidity. OBJECTIVE: This study

Prevalence and risk factors of non-fatal occupational injury among male workers in India: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND: It is estimated that 17% of the world's total non-fatal occupational injuries occur in India, leading to severe injuries and absences from work. Despite its magnitude and seriousness, occupational injury remains a neglected public health concern in the country. This systematic review examines the prevalence of and associated risk factors for non-fatal occupational injuries among male workers in India. METHODOLOGY: A comprehensive literature search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases from 1 November 2023 to 31 December 2023.

Toward Brain NaV1.8 Imaging with [11C]Suzetrigine.

Background/Objective: Acute and chronic pain affect millions of individuals, yet there are currently no molecular imaging tools to directly assess pain-related mechanisms in the central nervous system (CNS). The voltage-gated sodium channel NaV1.8 plays a pivotal role in neuropathic pain by increasing the excitability of nociceptive neurons following nerve injury or inflammation. In this work, we aimed to develop a novel positron emission tomography (PET) imaging probe for NaV1.8 to facilitate noninvasive quantification of this target in the CNS and thereby advance our understanding of pain ne

[Development and factorial validity of a moral disengagement in Sport Short Scale].

BACKGROUND: According to Bandura, individuals are able to violate their personal standards, without self-sanction, by using the psychological operations of moral disengagement. For Bandura et al., moral disengagement is characterized by eight mechanisms belonging to one of the following four groups: (a) reconstructing conduct; (b) reconsideration of negative effects; (c) disqualification of the victim; and (d) obscuring of personal causal agency. Other researchers have measured moral disengagement in various contexts of everyday life using Bandura et al.'s scale and suggested that moral diseng
