Serous microcystic adenoma of the pancreas is an uncommon tumor in adults, and reported in pediatric patients only a handful of times. The authors present a case of a 6 month patient with incidental finding of a large cystic mass on the tail of the pancreas during an operation for Hirschsprung's disease. Final pathology was consistent with serous microcystic adenoma. This is the second case report describing this lesion in an infant, and the first time it has been associated with Hirschsprung's disease.

In present work we studied the morphological features of the esophageal mucosa in 63 children with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). The biopsies were taken at level of 3 cm above a Z-line and at level of 0.5-1 cm above a Z-line. The results of our study showed that the mucosa of the esophago-gastric junction may contain areas covered with columnar epithelium of 44.4% of children in the biopsies from the level of 0.5-1.0 cm above the Z-line. A two-year-old female poodle with abdominal distention was diagnosed with concurrent enteric duplication cyst and lymphangiomatosis. Both lesions were shown as cystic structures, but some characteristic features of enteric duplication cyst were identified including a thick cyst wall and shared blood supply with the duodenum. Although it was challenging to discriminate between the types of cyst based on diagnostic imaging, this report describes the characteristics of each type of lesion using several different imaging modalities.

Transperineal exposure of the high portion of the vagina is limited. These limitations can be circumvented using ASTRA (anterior sagittal transrectal approach). Boerhaave's syndrome is a spontaneous barotraumatic disruption of the distal oesophagus secondary to an abrupt increase in intraoesophageal pressure during vomiting. Management ranges from a conservative approach to an oesophagectomy. The over-the-scope-clip (OTSC, Ovesco Endoscopy GmbH, Tuebingen, Germany) system is a newly designed clipping method for tissue mechanical compression in the gastrointestinal tract. We report the case of a patient referred with a delayed diagnosis of Boerhaave's syndrome and successfully treated by OTSC application followed by lung decortication.

BACKGROUND: Nonmagnifying observation by using narrow-band imaging (NBI) is useful for detecting pharyngeal lesions. Magnifying observation by using NBI can distinguish between cancerous and noncancerous lesions and is therefore useful for the early detection of pharyngeal cancer.
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the usefulness of observation of the pharynx by using NBI in the overall population undergoing upper GI endoscopy.
DESIGN: Retrospective study.
SETTING: Single tertiary referral center.
PATIENTS: A total of 11,050 upper GI endoscopies between January 2009 and December 2012.
