Cutaneous Manifestations in Psoriatic Arthritis: Phenotypes, Clinical Burden, and Therapeutic Implications.

Cutaneous disease is a central component of psoriatic arthritis (PsA), contributing substantially to patient disease burden and influencing therapeutic choices. Beyond plaque psoriasis, specific phenotypes, including nail, scalp, palmoplantar, and inverse involvement, are relatively common in PsA and are frequently associated with greater functional limitation, impaired quality of life, and discordant responses to systemic therapy. Accurate identification of these manifestations is critical for diagnosis, risk stratification, and treatment optimization. This review provides a clinically orient

Micro- and nanoplastics in human biological materials: a systematic review of detection methods and methodological challenges.

Micro- and nanoplastics are an increasing focus in biomedical research, yet their definition, classification, and detection methods remain largely unstandardised. The lack of consistent nomenclature, agreed size criteria, and uniform reporting methods significantly hinders comparison of available data. Therefore, a systematic review of studies on analytical methods for detecting micro- and nanoplastics ex vivo in human biological samples was conducted. Most included studies (63.89%) were published between 2024 and 2025, highlighting the topicality of this research area. Study populations varie

Mesenchymal Stem Cell-Derived Exosomes for Ocular Diseases: Therapeutic Mechanisms and Clinical Perspectives.

Ocular diseases represent a major and increasing public health concern. Although current treatment options are available, the management of complex cases, such as corneal diseases, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and uveitis, remains inadequate. Recent studies have demonstrated that mesenchymal stem cell-derived exosomes (MSC-Exos), obtained from bone marrow, adipose tissue, and umbilical cord, have emerged as a promising cell-free therapeutic platform for various ocular diseases. These nanovesicles can be delivered via systems such as topical eye drops and in

Muscle imaging in facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy research: A scoping review and expert recommendations.

Clinical trial readiness is an important topic in the field of facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). As FSHD is a slowly progressive and clinically heterogeneous disease, imaging biomarkers have been proposed to complement clinical outcome measures. Muscle magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound and dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) have been used to measure disease severity, activity and progression. We conducted a scoping review of the literature on these imaging modalities to assess gaps in knowledge and subsequently collaborated with a panel of neuromuscular imaging exp

Flegel's disease (FD), also known as hyperkeratosis lenticularis perstans, is a rare benign hyperkeratotic dermatosis primarily affecting middle-aged individuals, with a slight female predominance. It presents as small, keratotic papules, often on the lower extremities. The pathogenesis of FD remains uncertain, with proposed mechanisms including genetic predisposition and primary keratinization disorders. Histopathologically, FD is characterized by discrete hyperkeratosis, parakeratosis, thinning or absence of the stratum granulosum, and lichenoid infiltrates in the papillary dermis. Dermoscop

Through this systematic literature review, we assembled evidence to inform the EULAR recommendations for the non-pharmacological management of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and systemic sclerosis (SSc). We screened articles published between January 2000 and June 2021. Studies selected for data extraction (118 for SLE and 92 for SSc) were thematically categorised by the character of their intervention. Of 208 articles included, 51 were classified as robust in critical appraisal. Physical activity was the most studied management strategy and was found to be efficacious in both diseases. Pa

Hepatocellular carcinoma and its impact on quality of life: A review of the qualitative literature.

INTRODUCTION: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) carries significant burden of disease, with high mortality rates and poor prognosis. It is therefore important to consider quality of life (QoL) for patients with HCC. Quantitative research assesses HCC and QoL via standardised measurement tools, but these do not capture the full scope of patient experiences. This review examines the body of qualitative research on this topic, to develop a comprehensive understanding of QoL for this population. METHODS: Medline, EMBASE and PsycINFO were systematically searched with keywords relating to HCC, QoL and

Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy for Extremity and Truncal Soft Tissue Sarcomas: A Systematic Review of the Literature.

BACKGROUND: Regional lymph node metastasis (RLNM) occurs infrequently in patients with soft tissue sarcoma (STS), although certain STS subtypes have a higher propensity for RLNM. The identification of RLNM has significant implications for staging and prognosis; however, the precise impact of node-positive disease on patient survival remains a topic of controversy. Although the benefits of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) are well documented in patients with melanoma and breast cancer, whether this procedure offers a benefit in STS is controversial. METHODS: A systematic literature search was
