We report a case of a solitary kidney and a single-system ectopic ureter draining into the vestibule in an infant with a Müllerian duct defect. Due to the absence of the upper vagina and uterus, an extremely underdeveloped bladder masqueraded as the vagina, and bladder agenesis was suspected preoperatively. Urinary continence was achieved using staged bladder surgery without augmentation or urinary diversion.

We report a case of undifferentiated carcinoma of the endometrium associated with malignant mixed Müllerian tumour of the uterine cervix. Immunohistochemical analysis with multiple markers was performed to demonstrate the coexistence of highly two aggressive components in the same uterus. Clinical data were collected and followed up, and a careful literature review was performed to establish the occurence of these components in a uterine malignancy.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this article is to support intracaesarian myomectomy as an alternative method of treatment.
CASE REPORT: This article presents a case of myomectomy during a caesarean section at 38+1 weeks' gestation, with a subserosal myoma on the left wall of the uterus.
CONCLUSION: The postoperative period was free of complications, lending credit to the possibility that intracaesarean myomectomy can have a favourable outcome.

The fallopian tubes represent a highly important structure for ovarian carcinogenesis. They provide the passage of eutopic endometrium from the uterus, as well as metastatic cells from the ovaries. A direct source of tumor cells for ovarian cancer was also recently confirmed in the fallopian tubes. The authors present a case report of an incidental tubal endometrioid carcinoma with the coexistence of adenomyosis.

Endometriosis is a benign gynecologic disease, characterized by the presence and growth of functional endometrial-like tissue outside uterus. This ectopic endometrial tissue is most commonly found in the peritoneum, ovaries and uterosacral ligaments, but extremely rarely there is involvement of the appendix or cecum. Here we report a case of cecal endometriosis presenting as a subepithelial tumor diagnosed by surgical excision.

We report the case of a female adolescent who had an ectopic ovary in the inguinal canal without an associated hernia, a unicornuate uterus, and ipsilateral renal agenesis. The incidental discovery of the ectopic ovary and other Mullerian anomalies, as well as the surgical correction that followed, highlights important fertility considerations in children and available treatment algorithms for these rare cases.

We describe a case of multiple peritoneal nodules with cysts at the free border of the omento and other locations of the peritoneal surfaces. A total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingooophorectomy were performed for a myomatous uterus and bilateral ovarian cysts. The omentum and several fragments of the abdominal peritoneum were also removed. Microscopic diagnosis was Disseminated Peritoneal Endosalpingiosis-Leiomyomatosis.

The frequency of myomas increases with age. They are mostly symptomless, and their impact on fertility and course of the pregnancy is dependent on their location. Submucosal myomas protruding into the uterine cavity are most significant. Their removal reduces the risk of miscarriage and increases the probability of spontaneous pregnancy. Intramural myomas of the uterus also reduce fertility, but there is insufficient evidence of the benefits of their removal. Subserous myomas are generally insignificant.

It has been suggested that acupuncture may pose particular risks during pregnancy: by enhancing oxygenation to the developing embryo (presumably via increasing blood flow to the uterus); by affecting the level of maternal progesterone in early pregnancy; or by stimulating uterine contractions. This article examines the proposed risks and fails to find any plausible physiological mechanism for them.

Conjoined twins or Siamese twins are identical twins whose bodies are joined in the uterus. Craniopagus is a condition in which the heads of the two twins are joined. Craniopagus parasiticus is a rare condition in which one of the twins is rudimentary in form and parasitic on the other. Few cases of craniopagus parasiticus are reported in literature; here, we present one such rare occurrence.

A 41-year-old Chinese lady had a Gräfenberg ring in utero for 15 years. During that period of time, she had one normal vaginal delivery a year after insertion, followed by an ectopic pregnancy 12 years later. We discuss the possible mechanism of action of the Gräfenberg ring and sequelae of its prolonged presence in the uterus.

Persistent mullerian duct syndrome with transverse testicular ectopia is a very rare pathological association, often fortuitously discovered in boys during repair for inguinal hernia or cryptorchidism. The authors present the case of an 15 year old adolescent with cryptorchidism, in whom ultrasonography of the right iliac fossa showed 2 testicles and a uterus. Surgical exploration confirmed the diagnosis.

An unusual case of a 40-year-old infertile male is presented. On examination he had cryptorchidism with other normal secondary sexual characters. Ultrasonography and computerized tomography raised the suspicion of tumour in the right abdominal testis. On exploration, a uterus with cervix, fallopian tubes and abdominal testes were detected. This was confirmed histopathologically. Chromosomal analysis revealed 46XY.

Postpartum haemorrhage may be a life threatening complication. Seven cases are described in which the B-Lynch surgical technique (a brace like suture over the uterus) was successful in obtaining haemostasis. In four cases, the B-Lynch technique was the first line of treatment. In three cases, the B-Lynch was used after, or in combination with artery or other vessel ligation.

A regimen of fluid and transfusion therapy has been developed on the basis of clinical and laboratory evaluation of postresuscitation course and outcomes of parturients with massive blood loss and a history of gestosis. An early introduction and systematic use of proteolytic inhibitors were beneficial. Surgical hemostasis warrants a radical approach and requires ligation of internal abdominal arteries and uterus extirpation.

52 patients with septate uterus underwent hysteroscopic metroplasty in the Obstetric and Gynecologic Clinic "R" in Palermo. In this group of patients ultrasound examinations were also performed in order to define their role in diagnosis of type of malformations and in monitoring the endoscopic surgical procedure. Preliminary results seem to indicate that real-time ultrasound is a reliable technique for both purposes.

Dracunculus medinensis was recovered from a 42-year-old man residing in Shizuoka, Japan. Part of an adult female worm was removed from an abscess in the subcutaneous tissue on his right gastrocnemial muscle. The worm's morphology and that of the embryos found in its uterus revealed that the parasite was Dracunculus medinensis. This is the first human case of dracunculiasis acquired in Japan.

A newborn had a combination of brachial plexus palsy and phrenic nerve palsy associated with a small left arm, deformed ribs on the left, and an area of subcutaneous calcification on the left side of the neck. These lesions represent a deformation syndrome due to uterine constraint in a bicornuate uterus. Appropriate diagnosis can initiate management to avoid problems in subsequent pregnancies.

A biopsy case of endolymphatic stromal myosis, a rare neoplasm of the uterus, which occurred in a 33-year-old female was described. The histology was typical and resembled stromal cells of proliferative phase endometrium. The tumor extended in the endometrium and diffusely infiltrated into the myometrium and the parametrium. However, 3H-thymidine labeling index was low suggesting slow growth of the tumor.

We present 2 unusual cases of prolapsed pedunculated submucous myomas. In 1 patient, the prolapsed part measured 12 cm, with a 64-cm intrauterine part. The second patient had prolapsed pedunculated submucous myoma, which subsequently retracted into the uterus. Gynecologists should be aware of unusual presentations of pedunculated submucous myoma to plan surgery.
