OBJECTIVE: To describe clinical features, morphology, management and outcome of pulmonary vein stenosis (PVS) in childhood.
DESIGN AND SETTING: Retrospective international collaborative study involving 19 paediatric cardiology centres in the UK, Ireland and Sweden.
PATIENTS: Cases of PVS presenting between 1 January 1995 and 31 December 2004 were identified. Cases where pulmonary veins connected to a morphological left atrium were included. Functionally univentricular hearts and total anomalous pulmonary venous connection were excluded. All available data and imaging were reviewed.

BACKGROUND: Protein kinase C beta (PKCbeta), a pivotal enzyme in B-cell signaling and survival, is overexpressed in most cases of mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). Activation of PI3K/AKT pathway is involved in pathogenesis of MCL. Enzastaurin, an oral serine/threonine kinase inhibitor, suppresses signaling through PKCbeta/PI3K/AKT pathways, induces apoptosis, reduces proliferation, and suppresses tumor-induced angiogenesis.

We sought to evaluate the durability and efficacy of aortic valve repair with autologous pericardial leaflet extension in children. From 1997 through 2006, 54 patients underwent aortic valve repair with autologous pericardial leaflet extension at a mean age 8.4 +/- 5.3 years (range, 0 to 17 years). Nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL) differs in histological and clinical presentation from classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL). BACKGROUND: Down syndrome is known to affect the natural history of complete atrioventricular septal defect. We analyzed whether Down syndrome affect the long-term results of complete atrioventricular septal defect when the defect is repaired during the first year of life.
METHODS: Repairs of complete atrioventricular septal defect were performed in 64 infants. Thirty-four infants were associated with Down syndrome, while the other 30 were non-Down patients.

UNLABELLED: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of low energy internal atrial cardioversion in restoring sinus rhythm (SR) in patients with chronic atrial fibrillation (AF) persisting > 1 year. Fifteen patients with chronic AF lasting > 1 year (from 13-48 months, mean 24 +/- 13 months) were studied. R wave synchronized 3/3 ms biphasic shocks were delivered between right atrial and coronary sinus (left pulmonary artery in five patients) electrodes.
