Mammary and reproductive tract tumours and tumour-like lesions of 286 small pet mammals: a retrospective study.

Small mammals are very popular companion animals, and the incidence of particular tumour types in these animals is the subject of extensive research. We carried out a retrospective and comparative analysis of the incidence of reproductive tract and mammary tumours and tumour-like lesions collected from 103 pet rabbits, 75 pet rats, 71 guinea pigs, 12 mice, 11 hamsters, eight African pygmy hedgehogs, four ferrets and two chinchillas. The results indicate that uterine tumours and tumour-like lesions are common in pet rabbits, guinea pigs and African pygmy hedgehogs. In pet rabbits, the most comm

FDG PET/CT Findings of Rapidly Progressive Interstitial Lung Disease in a Patient With Anti-MDA5 Dermatomyositis.

Anti-MDA5 dermatomyositis is associated with an increased risk of developing rapidly progressive interstitial lung disease with a high mortality. We describe FDG PET/CT findings in a case of rapidly progressive noninfectious interstitial lung disease associated with anti-MDA5 dermatomyositis. The lung disease showed bilateral diffuse ground-glass opacities with diffuse heterogeneous FDG activity predominantly in middle and lower zones, mimicking infectious pneumonia. Familiarity with the imaging features of this rapidly progressive noninfectious interstitial lung disease can help to suggest th

Correlation of FAPI PET Uptake with Immunohistochemistry in Explanted Lungs from Patients with Advanced Interstitial Lung Disease.

Recent studies have demonstrated promising results of fibroblast activation protein (FAP) inhibitor (FAPI) PET in prognosticating and monitoring interstitial lung diseases (ILDs). As a first step toward successful translation, our primary aim was to validate the FAPI PET uptake through immunohistochemistry in patients with advanced ILD who underwent lung transplantation after a FAPI PET scan. Methods: This is a preliminary analysis of a single-center, open-label, single-arm, prospective exploratory biodistribution study of 68Ga-FAPI-46 PET imaging in patients with ILD (NCT05365802). Patients w

Personalised PET imaging in oncology: an umbrella review of meta-analyses to guide the appropriate radiopharmaceutical choice and indication.

PURPOSE: For several years, oncological positron emission tomography (PET) has developed beyond 2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-D-glucose ([18F]FDG). This umbrella review of meta-analyses aims to provide up-to-date, comprehensive, high-level evidence to support appropriate referral for a specific radiopharmaceutical PET/computed tomography (CT) or PET/magnetic resonance (MR) in the diagnosis and staging of solid cancers other than brain malignancies. METHODS: We performed a systematic literature search on the PubMed/MEDLINE and EMBASE databases for meta-analyses assessing the accuracy of PET/CT and/or

Adrenal oncocytoma: a rare presentation of a benign 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose PET avid virilising adrenal tumour.

A woman in her 70s presented with features of hyperandrogenism including clitoral enlargement and deepening of her voice. Biochemical investigations revealed raised plasma androgens and urinary androgen metabolites and imaging findings showed a highly F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-PET avid left adrenal tumour initially suspected to be a malignant adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC). She subsequently underwent an uncomplicated laparoscopic adrenalectomy where complete resection of her tumour was achieved. Histopathological analysis demonstrated a benign adrenal oncocytoma with no evidence of maligna

Coexistence of Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis and Ganglioneuroblastoma Revealed by 18 F-FDG PET/CT in a Pediatric Patient.

Coexistence of Langerhans cell histiocytosis and ganglioneuroblastoma is rare and seldom reported in the literature. A 3-year-old girl with Langerhans cell histiocytosis underwent 18 F-FDG PET/CT imaging for staging, which demonstrated significant 18 F-FDG accumulation in the mandibles. Unexpectedly, a mild hypermetabolic soft mass was detected in the upper retroperitoneum. Results of surgical pathology of the abdominal mass were consistent with ganglioneuroblastoma.

Utility of 18F-FDG PET/CT in Detecting Spinal Drop Metastases from Pineal Gland Tumors.

Pineal gland tumors are significant despite being rare (<1%) among all brain tumors. Germ cell tumors are the most common among the pineal gland tumors. Often affecting young adults, pineal gland germ cell tumors are hard to diagnose due to different symptoms and potential spread. But they rarely show leptomeningeal spread and extracranial metastases. Other differentials include primary tumors of the pineal region, Pineal gliomas, and metastases. The leptomeningeal spread of these tumors has not been studied so far. Conventional radiological imaging modalities are routinely used to diagnose an

Pineal Gland Activity in Advanced-Stage Pediatric Neuroblastoma Patients on 68 Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT.

Neuroblastoma is the most common malignancy in infants and the most common extracranial solid tumor accounting for approximately 6% of pediatric cancer. Although surgical intervention serves as the primary treatment for early-stage disease, advanced-stage cases necessitate a variety of oncologic therapeutic approaches, including 131 I-MIBG and peptide receptor radionuclide therapy. Herein we report incidental pineal gland activity, represented in 68 Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT (SSTR-PET) in 3 pediatric patients diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, related to the physiological distribution of radiophar

Huge intermediate-grade myofibroblastic sarcoma in the retroperitoneum revealed by 18F-FDG PET/CT: a case report.

Myofibroblastic sarcoma (MS) is a relatively rare malignant bone and soft tissue tumor, which originates from myofibroblasts, with some characteristics of both smooth muscle cells and fibroblasts. It can develop in individuals at any age and can affect various regions, especially the head and neck; however, it is rarely reported retroperitoneally. Generally, this type of sarcoma is considered a low-grade malignancy, and cases classified as moderate and high-grade malignancy are rare. In this study, we describe a case of intermediate-grade myofibroblastic sarcoma (IGMS) originating from the ret

Longitudinal CT, MRI, and 18F-FDG PET/CT Imaging Findings of Peliosis Hepatis: A Case Report.

Peliosis hepatis (PH) is a rare benign vascular condition characterized by sinusoidal dilatation and the presence of blood-filled spaces within the liver. PH is often clinically asymptomatic and is discovered incidentally. It presents a clinical challenge as its imaging findings frequently mimic other pathologies, including primary or secondary malignancies and abscesses. In this article, we present a case of a 73-year-old woman with a history of recurrent tongue cancer treated by surgery and chemoradiotherapy, and concurrent multiple myeloma, in whom PH was incidentally discovered. Myocardial Blood Flow by Magnetic Resonance in Patients With Suspected Coronary Stenosis: Comparison to PET and Invasive Physiology.

BACKGROUND: Despite recent guideline recommendations, quantitative perfusion (QP) estimates of myocardial blood flow from cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) have only been sparsely validated. Furthermore, the additional diagnostic value of utilizing QP in addition to the traditional visual expert interpretation of stress-perfusion CMR remains unknown. The aim was to investigate the correlation between myocardial blood flow measurements estimated by CMR, positron emission tomography, and invasive coronary thermodilution. The second aim is to investigate the diagnostic performance of CMR-QP to ide

Initial clinical experience using 68Ga-FAPI-46 PET/CT for detecting various cancer types.

OBJECTIVE: Numerous studies have shown that gallium-68-labeled fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (68Ga-FAPI) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scans would yield high intra-tumoral tracer uptake and low uptake in normal tissues as background, thus allowing for excellent visualization of lesions in the cancer microenvironment. This study set out to compare the suitability of novel 68Ga-FAPI-46 PET versus routine fluorine-18-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) PET and other few cases of 68Ga-DOTATATE/68Ga-Pentixafor PET/CT for the assessment of different types of cancer. Clinical Application of 18 F-THK5351 PET to Image Ongoing Astrogliosis in MSA-P and MSA-C.

18 F-labeled THK5351 PET can visualize ongoing astrogliosis by estimating monoamine oxidase B levels and can be used as an adjunct for diagnosing neurodegenerative disorders. Little has been reported on multiple system atrophy (MSA) in the differential diagnosis of parkinsonian syndromes. Here, we present 18 F-THK5351 images in typical cases of MSA-P (parkinsonian type) and MSA-C (cerebellar type), showing intense 18 F-THK5351 uptake in the lateral-posterior part of the putamen (MSA-P) and in the pons and middle cerebellar peduncles (MSA-C). Hence, this study illustrates the possible utility o

Relationship between [18F]FDG PET/CT findings and claudin 18.2 expression in metastatic gastric cancer.

AIM: Given that claudin 18.2 (CLDN18.2) is a cell surface protein specifically expressed by gastric cancer cells, anti-CLDN18.2 antibodies have demonstrated significant antitumor effects in patients with advanced gastric adenocarcinoma. The correlation of [18F]FDG PET/CT with CLDN18.2 expression remains unexplored. This study aimed to investigate whether CLDN18.2 expression was associated with [18F]FDG uptake and whether [18F]FDG PET/CT can be used to predict the CLDN18.2 status of gastric cancer. METHODS: A retrospective analysis of [18F]FDG PET/CT images from 163 patients diagnosed with met
