BACKGROUND: Broadband ultraviolet B (BB-UVB) is a well-established treatment option in dermatology. However, during the last decade BB-UVB has increasingly been replaced by narrowband UVB 311 nm (NB-UVB), especially in the therapy of psoriasis, atopic eczema and vitiligo. DESIGN: Two investigators independently assessed 15 skin conditions studied by GBD 2010 in the NIAMS database for grants issued in 2013. The 15 skin diseases were matched to their respective DALYs from GBD 2010.

The purpose of this study was to uncover the structure of the lived experience of feeling misunderstood. Parse's phenomenological-hermeneutic research method was used to answer the research question: What is the structure of the lived experience of feeling misunderstood? Extraction-synthesis revealed four core concepts. The structure is the lived experience of feeling misunderstood is disheartening insignificance surfacing with discordant affiliations, as resignation with resiliency emerges with inventive endeavors. Implications for nursing research and practice are presented.

Calcipotriene offers a safe and effective option in the treatment of plaque psoriasis. It helps regulate the abnormal growth and production of keratinocytes, as well as has a number of effects on inflammation seen with psoriasis. When used as monotherapy or in combination with corticosteroids, it may help reduce the adverse effects seen with chronic steroid use. Calcipotriene is currently only indicated for plaque psoriasis; however, it has shown promise for use in a wide range of dermatologic conditions.
