The effects of a postmiscarriage menstrual period prior to reconceiving.

BACKGROUND: The optimal interpregnancy interval after a single pregnancy loss is controversial. It is common obstetrical practice to recommend that women who have had a miscarriage in the first trimester of pregnancy should wait for 1 or more menstrual cycles before attempting to conceive again. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to assess whether conception before the first menstrual period after a spontaneous pregnancy loss is associated with a risk of repeat miscarriage or adverse perinatal outcomes. STUDY DESIGN: This retrospective cohort study included 107 women who had a spontaneous miscarria

Potentially modifiable predictors of adverse neonatal and maternal outcomes in pregnancies with gestational diabetes mellitus: can they help for future risk stratification and risk-adapted patient care?

BACKGROUND: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) exposes mothers and their offspring to short and long-term complications. The objective of this study was to identify the importance of potentially modifiable predictors of adverse outcomes in pregnancies with GDM. We also aimed to assess the relationship between maternal predictors and pregnancy outcomes depending on HbA1c values and to provide a risk stratification for adverse pregnancy outcomes according to the prepregnancy BMI (Body mass index) and HbA1c at the 1st booking. METHODS: This prospective study included 576 patients with GDM. Pred

Effects of physical exercise during pregnancy on mothers' and neonates' health: a protocol for an umbrella review of systematic reviews and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.

INTRODUCTION: A growing interest has emerged on the effects of exercise during gestation. Several systematic reviews and meta-analyses have shown that prenatal exercise could reduce the mothers' risk for some disorders. Despite this, evidence regarding the risk of caesarean section, birth weight or Apgar score at delivery is still controversial. Furthermore, practitioners are reluctant to recommend exercise to pregnant women suffering from some disorders, such as hypertension, pre-eclampsia or pregnant women with obesity. Moreover, the scarcity of studies addressing the risks and benefits of e
