PURPOSE: The diagnosis and management of adrenocorticotropic hormone-independent Cushing's syndrome (AICS) with bilateral adrenal lesions remain challenging. Some studies have explored the value of adrenal vein sampling (AVS) in patients with AICS; however, more investigations are needed to assess its benefits for diagnosis and treatment planning in this population.

Pumilio (PUM) proteins comprise an evolutionarily conserved family of sequence-specific RNA-binding proteins that act as key post-transcriptional regulators in eukaryotes. In this study, we identified a maize PUM protein, named ZmDLR9 (Defective in Lateral Root 9), as a positive factor involved in lateral root development. Much debate surrounds the role of the left inferior frontal gyrus (LIFG). Evidence from lesion and neuroimaging studies suggests the LIFG supports a selection mechanism used in single word generation. PURPOSE: Visual cortical reorganization following injury remains poorly understood. The authors performed serial functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) on patients with visual cortex infarction to evaluate early and late striate, ventral, and dorsal extrastriate cortical activation.

A tricortical bone graft harvested from the ilium was used to reconstruct a severely comminuted open intra-articular distal humerus fracture in an adult patient. The patient demonstrated a satisfactory functional and radiologic outcome despite loss of the lateral trochlear lip.
