[Levonorgestrel releasing intrauterine spiral--contraception and therapeutic indications].

The levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system (LNG-IUS) is a highly reliable contraceptive device. It is a suitable method of contraception also for breast-feeding mothers, and for women who have completed their family it is a real alternative to sterilisation. In comparison with the copper-releasing intrauterine devices, the rates of ectopic pregnancies and adnexitis/pelvic peritonitis (PID) are reduced. In menstruating women the menstrual blood loss is lower and, correspondingly, dysmenorrhoea and/or iron-deficiency anaemia occur less frequently and when they do occur they are less severe

[Correlation of MMTV antibody expression and risk factors of human breast cancer].

Incidence of sera with antibodies to MMTV-related proteins has been studied in a cohort at high risk for breast cancer including healthy females and those with benign breast disease. The results were evaluated versus certain risk factors of breast cancer. No significant difference in the incidence was established between cases of diffuse fibrocystic mastopathy and healthy subjects. Nor was there any relationship between positive serum incidence and age, number of abortions, age at first childbirth or postmenopause. However, this parameter appeared to be in direct correlation with the number of

The relationship between C-reactive protein-triglyceride-glucose index and incident cardiometabolic multimorbidity in postmenopausal women: insights from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS).

BACKGROUND: Cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM), defined as the coexistence of at least two cardiometabolic diseases, is an increasing public health burden. Postmenopausal women may be particularly vulnerable because menopause-related metabolic and inflammatory changes can intensify cardiometabolic risk. However, simple tools for early CMM risk prediction in this population remain limited. The C-reactive protein-triglyceride-glucose index (CTI) integrates inflammatory status and insulin resistance, but its association with incident CMM in postmenopausal women has not been fully evaluated. Insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding Protein 2 regulates PINK1 expression through m6A pathway to promote mitophagy in BMSCs alleviating postmenopausal osteoporosis.

The senescence and altered differentiation potential of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) contribute to the pathogenesis of postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP). Insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 2 (IMP2) has been demonstrated to regulate BMSCs. However, its specific mechanistic actions remain unclear, particularly due to the lack of concrete evidence within the ovariectomy (OVX) in vivo microenvironment. In this study, we utilized Cre-LoxP technology to achieve BMSC-specific IMP2 knockout. This approach conclusively demonstrated in vivo that IMP2 deficiency induces BMSC

Independent Associations of Appendicular Skeletal Muscle Mass Index and Waist Circumference with Site-Specific Bone Mineral Density in Postmenopausal Women: A Real-World Cross-Sectional Study.

Background/Objectives: Postmenopausal aging is accompanied by progressive loss of skeletal muscle mass and increased abdominal adiposity, both of which may influence bone health through distinct mechanical and metabolic pathways. However, their independent associations with bone mineral density (BMD) at different skeletal sites remain incompletely characterized. This study investigated the independent associations of appendicular skeletal muscle mass index (ASMI) and waist circumference (WC) with site-specific BMD in postmenopausal women. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 345 postme

Protein Supplementation, Plasma Branched-Chain Amino Acids, and Insulin Resistance in Postmenopausal Women: An Ancillary Study from the Supplemental Protein to Outsmart Osteoporosis Now (SPOON) Trial.

Background/Objectives: Studies have reported an increased risk of type 2 diabetes among people with higher protein intake. Moreover, branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) are reported to be positively associated with insulin resistance (IR). However, it is not understood whether elevated levels of BCAA are causal to IR development, or if higher BCAA are a marker of IR. The objective of this study was to examine the effects of long-term protein and carbohydrate supplementation on plasma BCAA levels, and the relationship between plasma BCAA and IR in postmenopausal women. Methods: Stored samples and
