The psychometric properties of a Swedish version of Haidt, McCauley and Rozin's (1994) Disgust Scale were studied. Confirmatory factor analysis of the original model with eight factors (food, animals, body products, sex, body envelope violations, death, hygiene, and magic) provided satisfactory fit to the data (N= 280), significantly better than to the alternative one-factor and five-factor models. Twelve horses kept at a riding club suffered from pyoderma. All the horses displayed crusting, scaling and alopecia. The lesions were distributed in the chest, back, rump and limbs. BACKGROUND: Pyrethroid-induced paresthesia is frequently seen after dermal exposure to pyrethroids. Affected individuals experience a sensation of burning, tingling, itching, or numbness, most commonly in the face. This occurs 1-2 hours after the beginning of exposure and resolves spontaneously.
MECHANISMS: Paresthesia occurs as a result of a direct effect on intracutaneous nerve endings at very low pyrethroid doses. It is related to potency of the pyrethroid with pyrethroids without an alpha-cyano group generally showing the weakest effect.
CONCLUSION: Doses sufficient to cause paresthesia

Follow-up data were collected 68 months after Air Force basic trainees were screened at a mental hygiene clinic. Trainees were given the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (MCMI) inventory and a clinical interview-recommended disposition. The authors analyze the results of early (on days 5-8 postoperation) contact correction with soft contact lenses (SCL), carried out in 126 infants (206 eyes), operated on for congenital cataract extraction at the age of 2-12 mos. Soviet IOZM, Czechoslovak Spofa-lens, and American Bausch and Lomb lenses have been applied for 18-14 hrs daily, in parallel with the treatment for amblyopia (direct occlusion, a total exposure of the retina), carried out at home. A thorough adaptation, observance of the hygiene and schedule of the lens use have been a guarantee of the absence of ocular complications.

The prevalence of occupational skin disease was found to be 3.8% in a study of 479 sanders in the furniture-making industry in Singapore. 17 species of wood imported from South East Asia were used.
