The effect of plyometric training on physical performance in youth soccer players: A randomized controlled trial with maturation status as a covariate.

PURPOSE: Plyometric jump training (PJT) is an effective means of developing speed, strength, and neuromuscular parameters in youth athletes. However, the effect of PJT on performance outcomes as a function of biological maturation remains unclear. METHODS: Employing a 12-week training intervention, 37 youth male soccer players aged 10-18 years were stratified by biological maturity using the Mirwald equation (pre-PHV versus post-PHV) and subsequently randomized to a PJT group (pre-PHV: n = 10, post-PHV: n = 10) or a control group (pre-PHV: n = 7, post-PHV: n = 10). The PJT group trained twice

A Consecutive Multi-Day High-Density Surface Electromyography Dataset Comprising 7 Grasps and 11 Gestures.

Surface electromyography (sEMG) records muscle electrical signals and reflects neuromuscular physiological behaviors. Recently, high-density sEMG (HD-sEMG), which allows non-invasive identification of motor unit action potential trains (MUAPTs) and direct access to underlining neural drive derived from the spinal cord, becomes a research hotspot. However, datasets comprising HD-sEMG signals remain limited, especially for multi-day conditions, leading to the lack of long-term investigation of motor neuron activities. This paper presents a 320-channel HD-sEMG dataset, CEMHSEY (ConsecutivE Multi-

Elephant trunk tip musculature reflects species differences in grasping behavior.

Elephants use their trunks, muscular hydrostats, to perform a plethora of tasks. Trunk tip morphology as well as grasping behavior differ between elephant species. While African savanna elephants (Loxodonta africana) use their dorsal and ventral finger for pinching movements, Asian elephants (Elephas maximus) prefer to wrap around objects with their one dorsal finger and ventral bulb trunk tip lip. Moreover, E. maximus can flip their ventral bulb backwards to clamp objects behind the trunk tip. Whether trunk tip musculature differs between elephant species and muscle architecture is reflected

Uncovering the Structural Effects of Radiofrequency Ablation on the Papillary Muscle-Chordae Tendineae Junction.

BACKGROUND: Although radiofrequency ablation is effective for treating left ventricular papillary muscle (PM) arrhythmias, procedural complications like catheter entrapment and risk of PM injury are incompletely understood. Furthermore, cardiac catheters lack tensile force monitoring at the catheter tip, creating procedural blind spots that prevent the detection and potential mitigation of such complications. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the force required to rupture PMs before and after ablation, providing insights into procedural safety and potential risks associated with PM ablat
